Alpine type r 15 vs kicker l7 15

Never used an L7, But so far I've enjoyed my DVC4ohm Type R, I owned a CVR prior, the CVR was loud but quality wasn't great, I enjoy the equal balance of the SQ and loudness with my R, works for me, maybe not others.

 
get them both, and see which one you like better.

type r > l7 the design point of the kicker was never geared for sq/sql only spl hence the square shape, the motor is ok but the cvr since it is a circle and has the same motor is what you should have gone for if you wanted it to sound better. Anyways the type r is a pretty solid sub for your average user it will get loud and be decently musical but, you have the cost of being one of those guys... but that's another story

I would just go with a ported box tuned from 32 hz. - 35 hz.
