Alex's Silverado

Hooked everything up and it's playing. Drove around for about half an hour last night to test it out. The Wardens don't like going full tilt for too long, but the amps weren't too hot.

Leaving for Greek Week today. It's a 5 hour drive. This is going to be my test of the Vital Power 7k's. If they can go 5 hours wird to .35 each, they're solid in my book. I know everyone'e been asking me to do a thorough test of them, so here ya go. I'll report back on them as soon as I can.

Here's a pic of them installed:

I ended up putting the Vital Power logos back on

Last night the lowest voltage drop I saw was 14.0v

Next rebuild, I'll have access to my uncle's wood shop that's 10 minutes away from campus. Giant router table with a table saw. Looks good for building baffles //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Also has several other tools I don't currently have. Should make my builds easier and cleaner

So did you gain much from the amp swap? Also did the amps get hot on the 5 hour drive?
I don't know about gaining a whole lot. I can definitely play it loud longer though. The amps aren't stressed when pushing the subs to the max.

Volume 23 on my headunit was full tilt with my TFE. I set gains on the VP's so that 25 is the max clean volume. Volume 21 with the VP's sounds like full tilt with the TFE. Volume 23 with the VP's is definitely louder. It gets the subs hot on some songs. Anything over 23 for a long time gets the subs hot, so I'm going to say 23 is my full tilt.

For most of the drive, I had my bed cover rolled up and air was going over the amps. The first four hours of the drive were perfect. I was cruising at 2,000 rpm and voltage was steady at 14.6v With that cooling and a great steady voltage, the amps were more than happy. The last hour, it started sprinkling so I rolled the bed cover up. There was also some stop and go driving, so voltage dipped lower, but I stayed in the 14's the whole trip. After that last hour, the amps felt room temperature or a little warmer. Definitely not hot, but warm.

Everyone has talked shit about me having so many batteries, but I don't care because my electrical is solid for these amps. At idle full tilt, 13.7 is the lowest it's ever dipped to so far.

The wardens get smelly before the amps are stressed, so new subs is the next thing I need.

I'm thinking about buying another amp next month before the price increases. Then I'll put the Wardens back up for sale cheaper. I'd like to do four 18's. One on each amp at .5 nominal

Nice. What subs are you planning on to go to?

Not sure. Considering Nsv3's.

Otherwise, some Fi SP4's are going to be cheaper.

I've been looking for deals. If something is listed for a good price, I'd try just about anything.

Looking for high-temp 3" coil subs or 4" coil subs.

Leaning most towards SP4's because of the price

Yoo lemme know next time you're in town //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suave.gif.858fc102f7646e678ee8af7e1fbc41d1.gif
For sure!

I have six batteries for sale right now that I'm bringing to MECA Springfest. Could've brought them to Ames!

Five Exide group 49's that are a year old. Maintained with a float charger. Normally $180 new (each) and I'm going to try to get $100 for each of them.

I've also got one extra C&D I'd sell for $50, which is what I paid for it. It's three years old, but they all load test great. I'm running 30 of them right now, lol
