A litte info u should know about Nathan Peddicord...Owner of Excessive Amperage

Mean Green FTW. not bad price wise. payed just under $400 for my 5.2l 318 on my jeep. quick turn around and the customer service is excellent.

Well that sucks that you had to send back your original one and keep reinstalling. If I had to change mine out like that I would just go ahead and kill myself cause it was not fun putting it in. Anyhow, I talked to Nate numerous times on the phone as well as through email when I bought my 200amp a year and a half ago. I have had no ill effects, everything worked from the start but would love to bench test the alt I have and really see what it does.

Its driving everything in my sig.

EA=A+

here's my story : same story. this guy is on a failure spree

okay, here we go....

Let me chime in since I've experienced with nathan and his alternators and been in the same position as kickinaudio. I've had the EXACT issue such as kickinaudio. I realized that more and more individuals are having the same issue with these alts. My first alternator wasn't charging past 11.8 at idle. At 1000 RPM, the below picture will show you what it did.

At 2000 RPM, this is what it gave me:

At the beginning, i thought it was my DMM and this has to be a joke. After swapping DMMs at pepboys, i get the same results. I noted to myself that there couldn't be any other possible way to use a daym DMM, so i just drove him. This is when i realized that my dashboard kept blinking "VOLTS" and that is when i confirmed myself that the alternator wasn't working properly. I returned it back to him, he claimed he fixed it. Got it back within a week. Installed it, and i get the same results. Shipped it back to him. He claimed he fixed it again, i got it back, same results. After three times, i demanded a refund plus shipping charges for everytime i sent it back to him. I need a new alternator as of today, but it seems like nobody can make an alternator nowadays. Every single company seems to have 50% good reveiws/50% DOAs or didn't last long. With that said, i could understand kickinaudio's frustration because if you do a search and find my thread, its the same scenario. At first, it thought it was my vehicle. But after carefully isolating each part of vehicle to find out an issue, i realized that it wasn't my vehicle. I dropped in my HO 160amp alternator and this is the results it gave me at idle :

Last but not least, My other alternator gave me far more output than the 200amp from EA.

Nathan was a kind person and issued me by refund, but its obvious that there is a known problem with these alternators. While some show this particular issue and others are free from this issue, it must be a particular part that is characterizing this scenario.....

Also, he's better off disconnecting his phone line and not worrying about a phone bill. He seems to hide behind phones and doesn't want to directly address the issue. I've called several times prior to my second and third alternator, and never got a response, call, or voicemail.

he told me himself that he didn't have a machine that determines the amperage per cycle in the alternator. With that said, he is just guessing/estimating how much it does at idle based off typical math calculations. He said he hopes to have a machine in the future, but at the moment they are very expensive.

didn't wanna ruin his rep, but he deleted my post on ROE as if i said something wrong, which results in the fact that he is hiding his - comments although they are 100% true.

You kids crack me up, what the he11 do you think is going to happen when you send your money to some guy working out of a shed in his back yard,

when the name of the alternator, owner of the "company" (and NO I don't consider someone working out of a shed a company), and the name of the worker is THE SAME.

...tisk, tisk, tisk, buy from REAL companies and you wont have this problem, mean green, msd, powermaster, etc.

Maybe you can ask your mommie to call his mommie, this type of thing never ceases to amaze me.

With that attitude, no small business would ever get off the ground. RE? Fi? JL? Ohio Generator? Any and all of them got started small too. You weed out the bad ones, the good ones move up through the ranks. But thanks, your 20/20 hindsight is inspiring. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
To the OP, why the hell did you pay the Ford dealer $75 to install an alternator? Im sorry about your bad alts, but that's not really fair for EA to pay. What if it had been a ferrari dealer charging $1200? Would that also be EA's responsibility? IMO asking $150 for two alt installs (30 min job tops) is excessive. if I were you, id have asked him to split that with you maybe, or something.

I had two team mates with exact similar issues with equipment. One team mate put in his new alternator and it mechanically broke while it was being put in. He had to send it back multiple times and he ended up putting his stock alty on to go to finals with.

My other team mate bought an adjustable external regulated alty for his CRX, and it never had stable voltage. The funnest thing ive ever seen was Dominic Irragi (who was nice enough to come over to our tent at finals) to work on an EA alternator to get it working again! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I so wish I would of snapped a pic of that! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Im not downing any company, these are just observations ive seen with my own eyes and my buddy's pocketbooks.

Some businesses never should, like the ones that cant generate enough $ to rent some shop space in bumfu
I'm not saying they need 10,000sqft of shop space and 200 people on staff, but there needs to be a line between a company and a shade tree "mechanic"

So rented shop space is your defining goal between a good up-and-coming business, and a bad one?
Any Ford dealer that charged $75 means it was indeed a 30 min job. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
