'97 Town Car "King Kongs" *No56k*

Final coat will be in a freashly vacumed garadge. If I was doing a real paint job I'd set up my booth.

The paint I'll be using is by rustolem. It has the same texture as bedliner but instead of just black it is grey wth black specs and silver specs. The color/speckle is similar to rim paint.

agian, you do understand that carbide bits at 15000 RPM and screws dont mix right?
I've build boxes using strictly clamps and glue and they are just as structurally strong as boxes with the screws left in. This isnt going to be a 170dB set up that has the ability to shear wood. In order for the screws in the ends to add any stuctural integrity to the enclosure the forces on it would have to be so great that the wood would tear.

I understand your concerns but agian, this thread isn't about the mechanics of my enclosure construction process. Beleive it or not I've built and installed an enclosure or two in the past few years. I'm sorry for the hostility but screws on the edges of the wood simply are not going to add anything to this box. If you can show me defenetive results where screws kept a joint togather that was bonded correctly with wood glue I will tear the box down and start over.
and if you bothered to understand what i was saying, you'd never introduce your roundover bit to the screw. you realize you can roundover from either panel, correct? so if the base of your router is on the panel the screws are shot from, the bit will never see the indention left from countersinking or the screwhead. and you wouldn't have the indentions. oh yeah, you might have a screwhead sticking out. my bad genious.

also, i have indeed seen boxes come apart that were assembled properly. but hey, what do i know? i've only been building boxes almost as long as you've been alive. i mean, why would anyone even bother to hint at helping you out, you already know it all and done it all.

truthfully, i think your ripping your friend off. your skills aren't that good. i'd have to have you pay me to build me a box.

Kent you are a wonderful addition to this thread. I must say. Every box I've built for someone else has been highly reguraded by everyone who heard it or inspected it's quality. How about you get off of your high horse, get out of my thread, and leave it the **** alone. 1/2" roundover bit will dig into the head of the screw no matter the way you round it over unless you countersink it 1/4" into the wood. Considering I dont have a counterink bit that will go that far I would have to use a drill bit wasteing even more time for a little bit of structural integrity in the hypothetical instance that the box is ran over by a semi?

And so the **** what you've been building as long as I've been alive. That makes your opinions and views of how I build the box superior? Agian I say get off of your high horse.

Incase you didnt notice because you decided to jump down my throat there is bracing that is holding the box togather even more. The bracing was cut short so the screws would pull the wood and it was placed so that the only pulling was from panels that are braced agianst other panels.

Grow up.

i say your friends didn't know any better. you say it's a waste of time, i say it's just part of the process of a properly built box. but hey, i care about what i build, and i have pride in knowing that what i built will probably last longer then me.

and yeah, my experience does indeed make my views and opinions superior to yours, in this case. i guess it doesn't count that i do this for a living either, right?but don't listen, it's cool. when a box craps out, you'll learn. it happens to the best of us chris.

don't worry, this is my last post in this thread. i've wasted my last breath trying to point out something to you. and the next time someone wants you banned, i won't bat for ya. not again, not ever. your a waste of humanity at this point and time, and if you have any respect for your friend, you'd give him the leftover money, you don't deserve it.

do yourself and the world a favor, come off your high horse, grow up a bit and listen to people who have been there and done that. until then, your an ***, will always be an ***, and i hope that proverbial semi runs over your much bloated head and ego.

oh wait, i didn't cuss, so i must not be e-tough. darn.

Both of the owners of the local shops to this for a living. Yeah... that means their custom boxes are great. Or maybe not.

And the next time someone wants me banned...good for them. How much people care about me on the internet wont affect my life in the least. You may have noticed that I havent been going to SSA that much. Geuss why. You talk about my bloated ego, some people think way too much of themselves and their own experence as if how they where taught and have been doing things is the ONLY way to do things.

Talk about a box lasting longer than yourself? My old bed was constructed with nothing but biscuts and glue. You know who is using it now? My 2nd nephew who was just born. If you had any idea how much abuse it took you would put a little more faith the strength wood glue bonds have to offer.

Now quit shitting in my build log. I'm not Kenny P.

ok, i lied...

wood glue and biscuits, correct? guess what asshat, that's more then just glue, you idiot. the biscuit swells inside that joint, helping to create a mechanical bond as well as the chemical/ physical bond created by the glue. if it was jsut glue, i'd wager your meager existance it wouldn't still be here.

and your the one acting like your way is the only way to do things. you say it's a waste of time to countersink, yet you'll waste time removing screws. and in the process take out a piece fo the puzzle that does nothing but help the integrity of the enclosure. but which takes longer? countersink/screw, or screw/unscrew? i'd wager the same amount and which box is stronger?

i also like how the mounting circles are jagged due to the jigsaw, not the operator. the roundover has ledge because of the router, not the depth set by the operator. and the spelling, bad because???

you have done it all, can do it all and know it all. you are a moron.

and instead of leaving your precious, overcharged yet very simple build thread, i'll stay and make fun of you. if i'm going to post in this forum, i might as well at the forum (and yours as well, chris) level.

in the end, if you truthfully didn't care what people thought, you wouldn't post your weak *** builds, and the check that was written to pay too much for them. but you do, because you think your that good. but you aren't really worth the air you steal from someone who is.

I feel if you are going to charge money for a box, it should look pristine after you finish initial construction...

your comment that was to the affect of...

"If its not perfect now, thats nothing a little high build primer can't fix, and sanding"

that right there makes the statement to me, that you shouldnt be charging for work...and just use this as experience.

Not perfect cosmeticly. Everyone makes little blemishes on the box during construction. It happens. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The box will be strong and will stay strong. If something happens to it I will replace it no questions asked. That is the kind of service I provide for the people I build for. So far all I've gotten is complements on my work. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Constructive criticism is always welcomed. Trying to add insult to injury while beating the proverbial horse is not.

(I'm not talking about you Chevy. You've been nothing but constructive in this thread. I'm not talking about Mr. Fisher either)

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

More work to be done tomarrow.

BTW the car was delayed another day. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Wire got here today. I can honestly say that eBay welding wire > weldingsupply.com for flexability.

when i started, it was just constructive criticism, you moved it beyond that.

oh, but wait, you do no wrong. and with the way you build boxes, you had better warranty it.

pray your friends stay uneducated so you can keep building boxes.

Your work doesnt have to be perfect to charge people for it? If your charing 1/2 what a pro costs why cant it be less then perfect as a pro would make it.. if the person buying it has not a clue how to a build a box and wants to save $ I dont see why its not a good option... I build boxes for people and they don't look perfect but they sound damm good and there happy with them and they save alot of money..It really upsets me that most the members on this forum have to rip apart any build that isn't perfect, and no I'm not talking about specfically this thread or any members but in general on this forum.
