95 Mustang 5.0 Build Log

I like what you did with the expandable foam. I just finished working on a 2011 Challenger and I noted that the cavities were filled with foam. It's amazing how just that little bit goes towards quieting a car down.

The attention to detail on the wiring to use grommets when it runs through the frame areas is nice touch. For taping down the wires try some left over soundening. I found it sticks better than duct tape.

I have done ambient tweeters in the same way. It's also a great way to increase the height of your sound stage. Play with switching the polarity on the tweeters. Sometimes they will sound better when ran reverse to the main stage tweeters. Think of it as a poor man's time alignment.

Great start. Looking forward to the finish.

You sure nailed it with the duct tape vs sound deadener. I ended up using a little spray adhesive to get some areas to stick. I will definatly be playing with a reverse polarity on the ambiant tweets. Thank you for the tips and observative positive comments. I welcome all tips and pointers.

All I really need to purchase next is a 10" Ultimo and a Zapco Ref 1100.1 to get this all in gear.

Considering a shallow false floor. Thoughts?

Enclosure is slowly taking shape. I need it to fit right up into the rear deck area as well as possible. The sub will fire into the cabin along with the rear fill. I will be cleaning up this thing cosmetically and matching the trunk carpet with it. I am borderline on the paint thing. Just going for function for now.

Old sound board to mimic:

I have 2.5" from the bottom of the deck to the top of the covering on the OEM deck cover. I have 3" tall speakers.....soooooooo I drop the speakers 3/4" into the mounting board and support the rest with 1.25" rings, add a cutout for wiring aaaannnnddddd there you have it:)

Coming along. My Mustang build is on permanent hold for the next few years. I got too many tickets in it (not even going fast, just got too much attention from the nazi CHPs in the area) so it's in the driveway under a tarp with the system ripped out. Picked up a 2005 Escape, 9855 is already in, Mille 3-ways, LRx5.1k and TC 1k 8" all going in soon...

LOved the 9855!!! I regret getting rid of mine.

Getting the kicks slowly rounded together. I will be fleesing and glassing a nice smooth transition into these pieces. I WILL DEFINATLY be cutting into the kicks and getting a tight hug on thses panels. I need to conserve as much room as I can. I will be aiming the pass kicks at the driver headrest and the driver kicks at the dome light.

I used a 5 1/4 grill ring which was AMASINGLY the EXACT inside diameter as the outside diameter as the 4" mids. The mids and tweets fit flawlessly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Next step is to get a dot laser and aim these bad boys the way they need to go!!

It took an hour or so, but with a dremel tool and a laser pointer these mids and tweets on the passenger kick are aimed directly at the head rest of the driver seat maybe a little to the right of the driver head. The midrange also clears the dash flawlessly. A little fleese and roesin and this one will be ready for glass and filler tomorrow:)

The fabric adhesive is not 100% cured so I have a screw/washer keeping things tight till it does. A tweeter will be in its spot tomorrow:
