It seems the manufacturers are going away from dual voice coils. Which manufacturer has a good one that can handle 400-500 watts?? I need one...
I am goin to do try and do something that may not work...opinions??
I have (2) 12" shallow subs (4 ohms ea) that are mounted into a custom built sealed cabinet. It turns out that my amp (PPI PCX-2200), when bridged will put out 800 watts at 4 ohms.... If I run the speakers in parallel, I get 2 ohms. According to the manufacturer ( I emailed), it can not run 2 ohms bridged... Soo, I had the goofy idea to add a 8" Sub in to the same cabinet (I have room) . With dual 4 ohm voice coils. Take coil (A) from the 8" and tie it in series with 1 12" and take coil B from the 8" and tie it in series with #2 12". Then I will have 8 ohms on each one and tie them together in parallel to get my 4 ohms.....
If I were to run 1 12" on each amp output, I would only get 200 watts.... Is there a pr
