welp , i finally ordered it because they went on sale for $19 a pop ( http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=264-831 )and so did the 25w plate amp. i know some will say its pointless but this will be for a computer system and i dont need it to be loud as piss because it will be right infront of me.

now , what size box should i throw it in? .2 cuft sealed? or should i go ported? the sat.s it will be paired with play down under 100hz but roll off around 120? or so. i have not measured that , but that is my rough estimate. i would like it to be fairly flat , some peaks are fine but not too much.

construction will be done in .5" mdf with the same finish as the satilites (see avatar).

I'd go ported, about 0.6 cf tuning around 34-36hz. This should give fairly flat response from the low 30's on up. If you want a slight boost you can tune as high as 40hz, giving up some low end performance. If you want more extension you can probably tune as low as 30-32hz. I'd get an adjustable tube port so you could play around with the tuning.

well for now , i was planning on a slot port because im , well , broke. and i already placed my order.

it will be mainly for music , but rarely , ill hook it up to the TV and watch a movie or play xbox. i think the 30-32hz should do me well. i just dont want it to overpower the sats being ported.

playing around with the subwoofertools program , it gives me this huge *** box that i dont really want. this will probably end up under the desk and i like the foot space.

whats your thoughts on a sealed enclosure?

You could have brian design you a box, im not that experienced with HT so i dont think i could do it.

i could , but probably at a cost. im broke at the moment. i think i may just go sealed. something betweem .2 and .4 cuft.

Your program must be flawed or it may have a mistyped T/S parameter. I modeled it in WinISD with the numbers I gave you and it looks good. If you go with 30-32hz, go slightly bigger -- maybe .7 or 0.8 cf.

I think you will like a ported box much better for this sub.

ill play around with it tomorrow.

how would the upper end extension be? and its 12-16 sqin of port per 1 cuft , correct?

ill just go for a sealed box. i got enough scrap mdf to play around with for now.

10"w x 8"h x 10"d will give me .32cuft before displacement, that too big?

8 x 8 x 10 would be .255cuft...

well , the sub and amp came in today. i love PE.
