2nd vehicle options

Everybody hates on dodge. My 99 durango has 200k+ miles with stock motor and *****. Got it for 3500 with 120k on it. Parts are inexpensive as well
I currently drive a Dodge. Its an 08 and its a piece of shit. Ive already replaced the front wheel bearing, brakes, rotors, tires, transmission, tie rods, alternator, and the battery. Its got less than 78K on the clock. I probably will never drive another Dodge.

Is it a truck? My dad and I have had good luck with the trucks. He's put 275k+ on both of his and I'v done over 150k now on both of mine...no engine issues at all. He had to replace one ***** because he messed it up trying to get out of some mud(got pissed and kept slamming it in drive/reverse).

Nope its a car. Family friends have Durangos and have replaced the tranmissions within the first couple months of ownership as well. I dont really want a truck. Id prefer an SUV.

98-99 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Rock solid 4.0 inline 6, indestructible AW4 transmission, possibility of one of 2 rock solid transfer cases (231 or 242, command-trac or selec-track respectively), and they're super easy to work on. If you're easy on the skinny pedal, gas mileage should realistically be between 15 and 17 mpg city.

nissan xterra for suv

Honda accord or corolla type-s car wise

Ive but 80,000 miles on my 08 dodge ram myself, just replaced shitty stock shocks after 60,000 miles and she runs like a dream. Never had an issue, but like ram said the trucks do better. My gfs parents neon is busted every other day. Although are neighbors intrepid was a good car to them, daughter my age drove it after the wife. Had it like 6yrs no issues

xterra's are good but just get shit gas mileage
Do they? I wasnt sure i just know a family friend had one i drove around trails. Thing was soooo much fun lol

Dont forget 4runners! Was my first car, had 230.000 miles on it drove till 270,000 orignial 6banger milage got terrible but my moms 06 gets lik 22-24 v8

You realize that with 78k miles on any vehicle regardless, that the brakes, rotors, and tires are going to have to be replaced right? Then add a batt and alt to basically any stock vehicle you put a system in. Youre left with the wheel bearing, ***** and tie rods. Being in Michigan with our shittyass roads, tierods are not uncommon. As well as a wheel bearing.

Plus its a Caliber LOL Not hating or hugging dodges nuts just explaining from a different view if you will. Honestly if you want maintenance free go foreign. To each his own.

American cars now are just as good, of not better than foreign cars. In 2011, Toyota had more recalls than Chrysler and GM put together. Ford was on a different level though. They had more recalls than Toyota. For older vehicles, JDM cars seem to be the most reliable. That being said, you couldn't get me out of my Jeep and into an Xterra or 4runner. I like working on cars and most stuff for mine is cheap.
