I'm over Android Auto - single din options

Well that's a big nope.

I like how all their official documentation suggests that they can do this, but after installing the app and trying some more things, they have a pop-up that says audio over usb not supported after android 8.0. w.t.f.

Why can't they state that somewhere useful?

Maybe if they're going to force BT they should support some non-garbage codecs. Nah. Let's not do that. Smh

So next try... I kinda like the idea of an external dac to my phone with some kind of better input to the hu. But that presents problems with finding a hub with anything other than a 3.5mm input.

Or like was stated before, dump the hu all together and just dac to dsp. But I don't get radio that way.. can probably just stream it though. I usually listen to the morning show on the way to work and music on the way home and the rest of the times.

How do you handle volume like that?

Heck, I still have my note4... Maybe I can just permanently mount that I'm the car and just tether to it. I may have to try that before I send this back

Edit: just checked, it still boots and is on android 6 lol. Man I still love this phone. The back seems to have turned melty though, very sticky and unwashable.

Hey brother... there are other cool options from back in the day or for people with classic cars who didn't want to fuss with or remove the factory radio. You can literally grab any radio that fits all your needs and just hook it up in the car. It doesn't have to be in the dash at all. I am talking glove box, arm rest, trunk, under a seat... wherever you can mount it.

Constant 12v
Switched 12v
Ground
Remote
Run some RCA's to the amp(s)

There are also, and I love this, options for marine radios that would fit the bill. Radios that are not a traditional shape but function the same or similar.

In the end, some compromises will have to be made but if you can make them so that if removed nothing factory is damaged or altered... well that is a plus too.
