2 15" L7's vs. 2 15" type r's

are u serious, hahaha u have 2 be. u can seal an L7, they are fine. but u gotta be 4real about L7>R. cuz there is no way. ASK typeRbass he had L7s and they crapped out on him everytime he put some power to em, they get loud when they are broke, its tru, he was louder when they were messed up. but lets be 4real.
you .....can.....seal an L7, but why would you ever do it? you get so much more output when you port them. and you can ask ANY1 on this forum, L7s are beasts of subs that take a lot of power and throw a lot of output. you CANNOT argue that. i dont care if your friend got some beat L7s or he cant install for shit, I speak the truth, and there are many people here to back me on this

Yeah I would never do the l7s sealed. They are not that great on sq but can get crazy loud. They have to be in the right ported box though or yes you may go through them quick. The R'S to me sound great sealed and I have had competition systems before. Yes the r's may sound louder and get more output if you port them. If you are trying to save space then get the r's. I recommend 1.75 sealed and 2.25 ported. Everything can be based on install dependent. So I dont know why all the sh it talking about what subs are better. I have heard amazing setups with the kicker and same with type r's. I went with the r's because they are cheaper and sound good. So is up to you. I would do what you think fits your budget and what ever saves space. Cause to fit 6-7 cubes in a civic wont happen unless your walling it off or something.

n00b! you do not EVER seal L7s, its a sin. you dont do it. and L7s go very LOW and do it smoothly. you can come listen to my system when i get it hooked up and ill show u. i went from L7s to a 13w7 now back to L7s, and the L7s sound VERY close to as good as the dubya in the low end.
orig poster...for output, L7 pwns Type R
l7 sounds just as good as a w7 down low... thats new.

to each his own, but lol thats quite a statement, and I 100% completely disagree with you.

The l7 works fine in a sealed box, btw.

And, the type R works great.

they bottom out relatively easily.. and thats about all.

i personally think L7's sound good.... i dunno why everybody says otherwise. crap boxes maybe??

i'd agree with the space saver budget statement made above. dont got the room? Type R. dont got the money? type R. but if your only concern is output, get kicker. unless you wanted something else. get a memphis mojo if your concern is numbers. or an mmats juggernaut. or dd9500/9900..... i'd pick anything but kicker in pure spl. always seemed to do better with something else.

i was wondering which set-up would have more output in my civic. they will get between 3.0-3.5 cubes a piece ported and a modded bd1500 (1800 rms). i have not found any ported box recommendations for the 05' type r 15, but have heard the L7 will do great in this size enclosure. The l7's are a bit more expensive, but i want to get loud and have some sq. i heard the L7's have great sq, so i was thinking maybe the r's will have similar output and better sq?
Honestly its going to boil down to install. L7s are pretty **** tough subs, that get loud and sound quite good. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

both of u are insane. for 1 the L7 isnt a lownote sub. becuz of its build quailty. they dont handle the power like the R does on low notes and output isnt close really. they arent bad subs, but in the rite box, the juss arent comparable 2 the Rs especially on the low notes. buddy of mine has gone through quite a few L7s becuz he has a lowbass craze and they juss cant keep up. for sealed, i'd go wit L7s, they are awesome sealed.
for the orig poster, i'd get the type Rs, better output, especially down low and have better sq. if u decide to get the L7s i maybe able 2 help u, PM me;)

Sorry but you are so far off base its not even funny.

Last time I checked 4 L7 12s doing LEGAL 151.6 @ 42hz with 2200 watts to each is a low note monster. In over 300+ full power burps and over a year of daily driving (and I RAILED on them) I NEVER had a failure. VERY good subs IF you know what you're doing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

most companies have haters, and most have followers also... sounds like this guy atleast something to base his opinion on. i always thought kicker was a pretty solid company also. i personally think its harder to use the square design to get desired results. which is why some people think that they are not loud (they obviously are). and why most people think they sound bad... they arent farmiliar with the mechanics of the sub.

well yota u must have had a hell of some L7s. a new guy on our team was a designer or whaeva for kicker. he says so himself that L7s bottom out easy and wouldnt put anyp power 2 em on low notes becuz of there design, they bottom out easy. im sure u kno that. but in terms of output and overall woofer, i would have 2 give it R. u can seal an L7, sure, but i wouldnt. but i was sayin if u had 2 choose between the 2, i would go wit the L7 sealed. 151 isnt bad for 4 12s and 2200w each, i guess. i respect ya score. but fatryan, how can u say he doesnt kno how 2 install or whaeva, he has built numerous of boxes and he is an world champ. wha do u have 2 show? i dont need 2 ask any1 about the L7s i see for myself wha they can and cannot do. period

Well its a lot better than someone who doesn't compete but just stirs the pot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif And if you want to make this a fair comparison to meca - tack 3 more dB on to that score and recompare. All numbers I post are legal on the termlab you know, similart to the Radical X metering format. The only difference is ALL of my equipment is below the window line, behind the rear seats, the engine is off, my interior is 100% stock, and I only have 2 batteries that I can use. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Besides when I was doing that number mid 04, I was top 15 in the world in my class. So yes it actually was good at the time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Secondarily if your subs are bottoming you need a smaller box. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i don't think some of you realized i am talking about the 15" type r and 15" l7. i have not seen any posts comparing the 15's and i have not seen any post about 15" type r's ported. i searched through over 10 pages of stuff. 2.25 cf ported, are you referring to the 15 or 12? no one has said how much space a ported 15" type r needs. i can give around 3-3.5 after port to each sub in my civic. it has a small trunk opening but is large inside, so i am building two boxes. I am leaning towards the r's but how far behind the l7's are they in output. in theory the l7 would be louder b/c of more cone arear, but that really son't say too much.
