1ohm or 2ohm stable amp more efficient ??

Im looking at buying a kicker zx 1500 or something else thats 1ohm stable:confused:

So I guess my question Is which amp would be better a 1ohm or a 2ohm

stable amp? Iv heard that the 2ohm stable amp can be more efficient and cause

less of a strain on your electrical system ??

This will determine what ohm subs I buy. Thanks for any help

2 ohm amp will put less strain on the vehicle and normally is more efficent. the zx can be ran at 1 ohm but you have to know what your doing and be careful about it. its recomended to be ran at 2 ohms. mines running at 2 ohms and it puts out around 1800 rms

well I know this is a big difference but the kicker zx 1500.1 compared to the hifonics 2608d 2600watts rms

somebody told me the kicker would still be louder because it is a kicker and it was 2ohm stable

Is this true??

A 2 ohm load would technically be less strenuos on the electrical system, but will the efficiency be any better? In my opinion...it depends on install/box/amp settings. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ok thanks. Im lookin to power two kicker CVX 15's they are 1000w rms each in a sealed box for SQ and Iv got about 400 to 500 $ to spend... What kind of amp would yall recommend? I dont really want to buy a used amp because Im not sure what its been through.

well I haven't ordered them yet it will be the end of next week but Im leaning to

dual 2ohm so I can wire down to 1ohm. There seems to be more options for 1ohm stable set up's

HAHA!

Oh, God.

JL IS LOUDER CAUSE IT COST ME $2,000 DOLLARS! THERE'S NO WAY YOUR $250 DOLLAR COULD BE AS LOUD! IMPOSSIBLE!

It's BS. A lot of amps are 2-ohm stable, and whether or not it's good for your sub is based on the sub.

As for efficiency, regularly, the higher the ohm (In #), the more efficient it is. However, there are amps which are designed to be efficient at low-ohms.

However, the power gains in most applications is a lot when stepping down from 2 ohms to 1-ohm. For instance, an amp that does 600 x 1 @ 2-ohms can do about 1000 x 1 @ 1-ohm (This is just hypothetical, even though there are quite a few amps which can do these exact numbers).

Some amps will have an efficiency chart, or will say they are % efficient at ohms.
