18" woofer build!! Which 18??

OP: I'd suggest a pair of 15's if you only have 6 cube per sub. The reason 18's get a bad rep is people trying to stuff them into a box that's way too small.

asked you about it in the thread you had.. you didn't reply when I had the cash that day to spend. Only issue I have with that one was the chunk out of the top plate as im mostly an ocd with cosmetics.

I run DCs and don't nut hug DC at all.. I would recommend 2 SQ HDC3 18"s. Ive had 3 HDC3s and loved them. I will be getting rid of my 18" DCs and going with 2 HDC3 18"s

Best bang for your buck. IMO

Well it seems that you have your heart set on some DC 18's so go for it. The LV4 doesn't impress me but it's probably comparable to everything else is the price range and probably built by the same 8 year old Chinese kids.

Should have PM'd me. I don't check old threads all the time, you know... Also there's nothing missing, that's some fleck textured paint on those motors that's coming off. It could all be stripped off, or re-painted and it would look good as new.

Ok just to be combative I am going with 2 SQ hdc3's read everything there is to read on both the dc lvl4 and hdc... And it seems that the SQ hdc3 sub is where it is at. See that was not so hard guys popwarhomie suggested a woofer I looked at the info on it and made up my mind lol. But in all seriousness when you search 18" woofer 3-4 brands pop up pyle, dc, re, sundown. I have a bunch of sundown stuff so I thought I would give DC a shot but upon further investigation Sound Qubed's reviews and t/s figures are more inline with what I am trying to do

I guess dc is the new jl audio lol they got popular now they get teh hate..... but on the serious Im gonna start drawing the box out on cad and as soon as I get everything in Ill do some pics of the build. Wont be anything to fancy do to my obsession with changing shiz around every 3 months but the box I have in mind will be pretty cool.

ANY other suggestions out there on an 18" woofer I did come across a pair of re xxx a guy has bnib just opened for 1000$ but it seems that nobody has been happy with the new or post 2006 (i think?) version. plus I would really have to get more power if I went that route..

i think its right around a grand and believe it wants around 12' of space. thing is rated for 5k though so it would laugh at 3200

Good call. HDC3's are great.

i would go with the dc xl's though if there not that much more exspensive. that means you can always bump ur amps up and not have to replace the subs too to get louder ya know?

Pulled the trigger on the HDC3 18's. I got the D2's so I can run each woofer at 1 ohm since the PPI bk1800's are not strappable and I will be running 1 amp on each sub. I have not found SQ's recommendation on box volume and tuning but looks like most everybody who has them are running 12-12.5 cu3 net tuned around 32-35 htz sound about right? The tuning I am not so worried about due to my box design having a removable port I just wanna make sure I get the volume large enough.
