18" BTL build for 06 imp.

Ok finally got it all hooked up and everything. It's insane. It KILLS the old 3 12" cvr setup by FARRRR. It's plenty enough for me for now. I cant hear a single word of mids and highs when i have white girl at full volume. So that will be the next thing i do after i do my electrical system.

What would i need to handle the PA 3000db at .35? Right now absolutely everything is stock. Im thinking a kinetik 1400 in the front and 2 2400's in the back for headroom.

Im also thinking about upgrading the amp in the near future. What amps would give me around 3000wrms @ .35 ohm for daily.

Last question. Right now when im at idle i can hear the rumbling of the engine through my sub. What could cause this?

no...absolutely no alternator whine. You know the rumbling that you get from mufflers i guess. That's the sound im getting from the sub. It's very very low, but still noticeable when the radio is at 0.

It's just interference of some kind. Power wires crossing signal wires most likely.

I get all kinds of weird effects when I move my power wires around. The other day my CarPC started randomly rebooting when I turned the volume up and the monitor was distorting, I took the seats out and moved the wires around to discover that the PC signal and power wires are touching the amps ground and causing the problems.

i would strap another a3000 @ 2 ohms nominal. that is if you want more power... You'll have headroom.. thats for sure.

A single hc2400 in the back would be plenty for that amp. But if your gonna run two the second would help.

Ok, so i guess ill have to take another look. But i dobut i have any wire signal wires any where close to power wires. But I just remembered that im using some 2 dollar rca's, plus some cheapo LOC. I got my money on that when i replace those it'll fix the problem.

But yea profundus i thought about it, But i want an amp that i can use to power two of them, with an amp a peice. With the a3000's, ill need four of them. That'll take up to much space. Soooo, what amp or amps(2) with a smaller footprint that i can power two BTL's with, for ~1000

from what i hear you can't really get a noticeable ground loop from having power and rca wires by each other.

Doesn't the loc have to be grounded? I would check that.

For 2 btls your looking at huge amps. with a requirement of at least 10 cubic feet net for the subs i don't see where you would have trouble finding a place.

Theres a guy selling a pair of xxv thors in the classifieds for 1200 a pair shipped. He talked like at 1 ohm strapped they would do 7kw easy. I wish i had the money for a pair of them.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I'm thinking about a pair of a3000's for now tho. The hk4000 just isn't cutting it.

yeh the LOC is grounded. I'm betting that it's these cheap RCA's. When you have alternator whine you get it even when you're volume is at 0 right? and about the amps.

my trunk measures 37 X 37 X 19. I have enough space to fit a bat on each side of the trunk. Just measured and i have enough space for 3 more a3000's amps. Just no place for a mids and high amp.
