15s at 2ohm vs. 12s at 1ohm

i have 2 15 L5s on a kicker 1200.1 runnin at 2 ohms

if i get 2 12 L7s and run them at 1 ohm will it be just as deep, or even deeper?

yes im pretty sure it will. running that amp at 1 ohm is how its pretty much made to be ran, so you'll notice pretty high output. even though your going to two 12's you'll be getting 500 more watts of rms power to the L7's and they'll be pushed nicely with that 1200.1 (ive got 2 12's on a 1200.1 and im not complaining)

On a regular day I find that running at 1 ohm doubles your cone area so you should see more output then 2 ohms because that's double the ohms. When you half the ohms you get double cone area. stick with the 2 15's your better off if you want them louder, then build a new enclosure

the impedance you run the amp at has no effect on the frequency response of the sub.

The only thing the ohm difference effects is the THD which is a little higher at 1ohm then at 2ohm but you cant hear that on a sub. The difference in sub size and the actual output of the amp will have a greater effect then what the ohm rating is.
