hey we got bored while waiting for some stuff to set up over here at gately audio and we decided to hook up a couple of speakers to 120v. we started off with a precision 12 dual 6 ohm and then we did a redline 12 single 4 ohm.

we also did a 6.5 in mid for a kappa perfect in a small plexi box.

we are thinking of doing a donation drive of $1 dollar to buy a speaker and blow it everyweek then post it on here and our website. let me know what you guys think.

here are some of the pics of the redline blown.

well hopefully a moderator will allow me to post a link for donations via paypal and we will try to get as much money as we can and just blow speakers. we want to try a 9500 or a w7 and if it doesnt blow from 120v we will try 220v.

Though you could blow the subs and mail them to the manufacture asking for a replacement. Then with the raffle the replacement to the people who donated money... :) Just an idea...

i think it would be great to see what happens to good subs. to see what they can really handle. if they do not blow from 120v then that meens they are really good subs. we will also make a new box to the specs of the sub to see how long it goes for.

when i went to the mitek place in AZ they said that you could run a 9500 for a long time in the right box off of 120v ac and not damage the speaker.

we would then sell the box for a good price. and maybe the woofer if someone wanted it if it still worked. its just for fun and if a lot of people wanted to donate $1 for it to see the video then thats great.

I don't see how that has absolutely any bearing on how good a sub is........

BTW....did anyone notice I made post # 11 at 11:11am //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suave.gif.858fc102f7646e678ee8af7e1fbc41d1.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

looks like somthing i wanna see...

and how bout- you can give the motor\basket to me for the 9500, and ill make a muntant sub in my basement? how about that?

here is a alpine type S dual 4 ohm sub i put into my car to replace the audiobahn i had in it and it is powered by a 4 channel autotek amp. ran in 2 ch mode into each coil. the audiobahn ran great and we had this sub screwed to the wall cause we though it was blown. then i metered it and it showed a 4 ohm load on each coil. it worked for about 10 min then i smelled it and smoke started coming out of the port.

no video this time. i didnt meen to fry the speaker. just a pic
