12" Sub recommendations.

I just bought a new car (Nissan Sentra S) and am going to put in a new system. I am looking to get a 12" Sub, and I don't want to go over 500watt. My music is all over the place, primarily rock and country, occasionally rap and dubstep. I had a single cab pickup before and wasn't really happy with the output of the shallow mount kicker I had. I am considering the JL 12w3v3 in a ported box, but I'm not sure if the SQ will be where I'd like it to be. Wanting to stick with $300-$400 for the sub and box.
