My 4 dd 8's get pretty **** loud. This guy doesn't know anything if he thinks 8's can't get loud. Y do you think i chose 4 8's over 1 15". Less space required but more cone area and more output. They get loud let me tell you.You need to hear my car, or any other car with 2-4 DD 1508s, TC1000s, or RLi 8's with a good ported install, you'll change your mind. That is all.
hehe, seriously, they are really impressive little beast with lot of excursion and very good power handling //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif(takes lot more than 75rms.... ) with 500rms of continous bass and bumping, absolutely NO SMELL, and dindt get hot, man i miss these sub:crap:Looks like alot of fun for cheap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
You can't get any low-end out of 8's. There's just not enough surface area to move the air it requires for low-end bass. Get you two of the the jl audio W1V2'S 10 inch subs. They will do the job. They are shallow mount also only 4.4 inches of depth required.
Four 8's will be pretty loud. You just won't get low-end bass. 8's are basically midbass speakers.
The only way you can make a 8 produce as much bass as a 10 inch sub is it would have to have twice the xmax of a 10 inch sub.
Yeah if you buy a jl W7 you will get low-end. But just your average 8's ain't going to do much. I have owned 8's, 10's, 12's. I know the difference in the low-end the three will produce.
A subwoofer is just like a engine. If you want more horsepower you need a bigger bore or a longer stroke. It's the same thing with a subwoofer. You either have to have more Surface area or more xmax.
I'm not saying you need 12 or 15's I'm talking about 10's. A 10 inch woofer produces the prefect combo of SQ and SPL.
Hoss you are deadly accurate man you know your shit. Thanks for backing me up. The fact is if you want the best of both worlds you have to settle in between a 8 and a 15. Actually a 11 inch woofer would be the best you could do.
And my personal favorite..My point of this issue the quality of bass you get from the size of a woofer. The bass you get from a 8 is much different than what you get from a 10 period.

Yall must understand I created the 8 inch subwoofer. I know what it will and won't do. comparing a 8 to a 10 is like comparing a 4 cylinder to a 8 cylinder.
