I'm gonna get in on this one, even though I don't really want too. First off, hoss is making fun of you, no help there.... Secondly, there is no magic size for subs that make them work the best. As far as I'm concered, go with the driver or combination of drivers capable of moving the most air with the least distortion, taking up the amount of space and power you have available. A group of 8's does have advantages over less larger subs. You'll suffer less power compression and have a greater motor strength to cone area ratio. How low the sub will play is determined by how much air it displaces, at least when we are talking about producing them at equally loud levels in sealed enclosures. I'd take an 8 with 32mm of xmax over a 15 with 7mm anyday of the week, similar displacement in alot smaller space.Hoss you are deadly accurate man you know your shit. Thanks for backing me up. The fact is if you want the best of both worlds you have to settle in between a 8 and a 15. Actually a 11 inch woofer would be the best you could do.
The DD 1508 has a Fs of around 52 Hz.There is no reason an 8 can't play low and, especially if it's optimized for a ported enclosure.
dude shut up, tell my why that wall that i posted can play 30 hz above 150 db if 8s cant play low?My point of this issue the quality of bass you get from the size of a woofer. The bass you get from a 8 is much different than what you get from a 10 period.
because loyd has a bunch of them. everyone knows that large groups of anything break the norms.dude shut up, tell my why that wall that i posted can play 30 hz above 150 db if 8s cant play low?
no it's not.... Measurments don't lie. I've got a set of 15"midranges in my basement with a little eq can sound just about like any midrange speaker, but get alot louder to boot.My point of this issue the quality of bass you get from the size of a woofer. hehee. it was always fun when ppl said " 8s wont play loud" and loyd playd some late night tip on em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifbecause loyd has a bunch of them. everyone knows that large groups of anything break the norms.
you and loyd know nussin.
theres 18 there.Hell they should it took a hundred of them to do it.
What airspace and tuning? I am also running 3 (if I can ever find a 3rd)8's definatly get low...my 3 1508s kick me in the chest to the point of discomfort, and louder in the lows then my 06 12" XXX that was tuned 5 hz lower
