I'm gonna get in on this one, even though I don't really want too. First off, hoss is making fun of you, no help there.... Secondly, there is no magic size for subs that make them work the best. As far as I'm concered, go with the driver or combination of drivers capable of moving the most air with the least distortion, taking up the amount of space and power you have available. A group of 8's does have advantages over less larger subs. You'll suffer less power compression and have a greater motor strength to cone area ratio. How low the sub will play is determined by how much air it displaces, at least when we are talking about producing them at equally loud levels in sealed enclosures. I'd take an 8 with 32mm of xmax over a 15 with 7mm anyday of the week, similar displacement in alot smaller space. There is no reason an 8 can't play low and, especially if it's optimized for a ported enclosure.
