10's or 8's...worried about low end.

My bad I see now thats W6V2's in that pic. The W7's and W6's look so much alike it's hard to tell the difference.
Even if it's too far to read "W7" on the dustcap, there is one inverted for referance.. W6's and W7's don't look alike. They don't have the same baskets. And W7's magnets are about 1/3 bigger than that.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif You **** for a JL Fanboy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Hoss you got a good point there bud. But bigger is better in most cases. I guess thats why me and 10's get along so good. Cause were both the same size.
You are by far the dumbest mother fucker on here. Seriously, you and Cot both need to be banned just based on stupidity. Neither one of you are helping OP and are just wasting everyone else's time. Both of you just ****ing leave. Neither one of you have a place on these boards. Actually you do, its about the same level as your brain cells....0. Both of you dumb bast@rds don't get it do you? OP, buy 8''s and piss off CotJones. Thats actually a better reason that reading pages of Cot bullshitting his way to fame, except he failed. You two are the reasons abortions should be legal, and 100% fail proof because if they were fail proof, you both probably would have been nut stains in the sheets.

Cotjones good luck with these punks. I'm going to move on to another thread and see if I can make some noise. I learned alot in this thread though. One thing I will take away from this thread is if you want to make some noise with 8's. You need a truck load of them. I'll keep that in mind for future reference.

Again wrong. I believe it was loyd who put up a 146 was it? with a single 1008a.. Yep must need a truck load of them.

By the way I'm not a jl boy. I just decided to buy one ten and try it out because everybody acts like there the greatest shit on earth. I'm a polk audio boy. Oh and by the way i'm not that impressed with the wv1's either. My polk audio DB sub sounds much better and hits deeper.

Wow ... just wow. Cotjones continues to hold the retard-of-the-board award.
I bet you have no idea why a larger sub of the same series has a lower FS. This is a point that can actually be determined with science and mathematics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Its funny cotjones simply "missed" my post .... He has still yet to answer my question.

What could you possibly say? You are an even bigger retard than he is. And its a close race. I know you dont have this anymore but I gotta post the pic cause its freakin hilarious. And I love the original thread title: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213428

ok it was the first box i ever built and i was new to car audio, but i guess you guys just woke up one day and knew everything about car audio...

and i got an AWSOME deal on the 13 and thats why i put it in there the original plan was that i was gunna get 4 10's and dad was gunna get a 13 for his denali but then he decided to go all out and get 2 10w7's ... but we allready had the 13 so i just decided to throw it in to the setup... it was pretty darn loud... didn't sound THE BEST but it sounded better with the 13 in than out, (which no one seems to believe)

actually i did miss your post...

but i don't see why it matters...

i don't know exactly why...

i can guess....

its the frequency at which the sub reaches the best compromise between moving the cone mass quickly and mostly...

so like at 20 hz the motor moves the cone mass easily but has to reach a larger Xmax to produce output, but at 200 hz it's harder to move the cone mass but it doesn't have to have as large of an Xman to produce the same output level...

so Fs would be the peak between the graph of these 2 lines...

so when 2 different size subs have the same motor (RE's) the only difference is a little added cone mass so the Fs doesn't go up as much

but in lines of subs where bigger size = stronger motor, the added cone mass is over-compensated for with a larger motor making the Fs much lower because it is less difficult to reach a higher Xmax with a stronger motor

thats just a guess...

Yeah if you buy a jl W7 you will get low-end. But just your average 8's ain't going to do much. I have owned 8's, 10's, 12's. I know the difference in the low-end the three will produce.
just because you've owned JL doesnt make you knowledgeable about car audio.....in fact owning JL and only JL makes you more likely to sound ignorant when you do try to act like you know wtf you're talking about.......

there are 8's out there that with the right box will give you impressive (for an 8) low end. for the most part it's gonna be box dependant.....

but if you have room go with the biggest single sub you can....a decent sql 15 or 18 with 1500-2000w will make you nut the lows are so nice......i used to run a tc5200 18 off 4kw.....and the lows aborted babies. if you want lows, it'll help to get more surface area. then if you build the box right, youll have good lows and great SQ. typically with low tuned ported boxes you'll have a flatter frequency response since the peak is on the low notes. tuning around 28-34Hz will yeild great SQ with lows results for ported boxes (built to specs to the appropriate driver of course).

i like when he said 2 8's ported would be inexpencive , hard to build and not the best possible performance. how would it NOT be the best possible performance if its in a ported enclosure. port = about as efficient as they get.

and a shockwave is NOT an earthquake //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif !

The guys over at TTB showed that with extreme box design you can make 2 8's sound like 3 12's.
How do 3 twelves sound? I know a guy in town that has 3 12's & is in mid 30's..

I know another guy who has 3 12's & does mid 50's..

Reword?
