Ready to buy new.

Right now I have a Kicker KM10 10" 4ohm 150W RMS/ 300W max sub in a 1.0 cubic foot sealed box, fed by a 1986 Kenwood KAC-745 amp at 110Wx1 @ 4 ohms RMS/ 160Wx1 @ 4ohm max (bridged). Decent bass and SQ, but I'm ready to improve the bass volume, with good SQ, mostly for rock music.

Just to keep it to one small-ish amp, I was planning on buying an Alpine PDX-5 5-channel that has a sub channel 300Wx1 RMS @ 4ohms or 2ohms.

Can you recommend a 10" sub for a sealed enclosure to go with the Alpine amp?

Will I see a drastic increase in bass volume? Or should I do something different? I'd like it to be a little louder than I can stand to listen to.

Tks as always ...

it is easier to get loud by running a ported enclosure

hey i did a lil quick searching on sonicelctronix.com... found some cheap options..

i think you might enjoy it a little better if you did something along the lines of 1.2 cubes ported to 35hz with about 14sq in of port..PM me if you need any more help..and if you want to achieve something that will b a little louder than you can listen to, a single 10 ported in 1 cube off 300 watts probably wont do it for you fyi, i have 2 12's in 4 cubes off 600watts and it still isnt "too loud"

Thanks for the excellent info! Sounds like I'm barking up the wrong tree with my 300W into one 10" sub/ sealed-box plan.

That would probably run me at least $500, and sounds like for not much improvement.

I guess I'll have to try to come to terms with losing alot more of (maybe all) my back seat space for a passenger(s).

I can sell you a new amp and a sub that would be very loud in 1cf sealed for about 250 plus about 15$ shipping. 500 watts rms amp and the sub matches the amp ( same brand) bnib 1 yr warranty.
Tks for the offer. Will consider. Still fiddling with what I've got tonight, to see how a ported box works out.
