I am looking for 1-10" subwoofer mainly for SQ. I listen to a lot of rap but I am not really an spl fan. I need something for under $150. Right now I am deciding between an infinity kappa perfect 10.1d or an Alpine Type R 1041d. I am kinda leaning toward the alpine just because I hear about it alot more. The Infinity seems like it would get pritty lound (compared to the R) because it handle 50 mor watts and its sensitivity is up about 9 Db more, but I dont know. Oh yah this is going in a relativley small seald box (about .75 cubic ft.) So tell me what u think abou these subs or any others that you think might tickle my fancy.

Perfect IMO is a better driver than the Type-r as far as simply SQ goes. Its problem lies in the fact that its RMS rating, is its absolute max power handling, it hates getting more (I know some moron is going to post saying he sent his 600 watts, but it was for a short period of time, and if not, it blew soon thereafter). THe Type-r is a much more SQL driver, in a box that small, you may not be happy with the Infinity's output. Go listen to both of them, then make you're decision. A solid sub for you to check out may be an Image Dynamics, http://www.sounddomain.com sells them authorized.

check out soundsplinter subs...they are right in ur price range..have awesome sq and get loud!!

i'm running a rl-p in my wife's car sealed. it is a great driver....also mike@soundsplinter.com is about the best guy in the world to deal with...email him with what ur trying to accomplish (tell him i sent ya..hehe) and he will give u an honest (and complete) answer..usually in 24hrs.....simply awesome subs!!!

also, check into memphis's pr series of subs...i have a ten in my truck (sig) off 70 wrms....simply the best budget sub on the market!! only downfall...if u buy off the internet..no warranty....however, if u buy from an authorized dealer...4 year warranty.

either one will be along the lines of what ur after!

Don't compare the two. Infinity uses an extremely unstandard method to measure their sensitivity, so you are basically comparing apples to oranges. Typically it's measured at 1m with 1w in open air, Infinity measures theirs in a car at .5m. Apples to oranges.

But, also check out Image Dynamics IDv3 and IDQ lines, as well as the OZ Audio Matrix Elite (which can be had for an extremely good price on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3291&item=5724953124&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW).

I ran 2 10" perfects on 600 watts each for over a year, and have never had any problems.
