1.1cu ft sub?

ok

well basically spl= sound pressure level, or the bass you feel

sq is sound quality, doesn't mean it's not hitting hard but it sounds good and clear and is matched well with your setup, i.e. not overpowering the rest of your stereo

sql is a mix of both, probably not the best of either one but hitting hard and sounding clean

Ok that's what I thought it all meant. I want SQ for now. I've got the old 2dr Tahoe, so with my available cargo space I have the option to go SPL later. For now I'm planning on using the Thunderform and setting it up to sound good enough with my comps.

You probably won't tell a difference between the two. Moving to a lower Q box (bigger) will result in slightly more low end due to greater excursion at lower frequencies. It may also reduce power handling some, but the lower Q is typically better for SQ. If it sounds bad you could always just glue some wood panels inside the box to occupy the extra airspace, but I doubt this would be necessary for most subs. You'll be better off by looking for a good quality driver with high xmax and low Fs rather than just trying to find one which has a larger recommended enclosure.
