1.1cu ft sub?

The reason I ask is because the MTX Thunderform comes loaded with a 4500 series 10". The thunderform has 1.1cu ft, but the 4500 series 10" says it should be in a .75cu ft sealed enclosure. I'm trying to see if there's another 10" I could put in there to optimize the 1.1cu ft.

i doubt you will hear much of a difference with the same sub going from .75 sealed to 1.1 sealed. you might notice a hair more low end but i don't think it would be much at all.

I don't want to move that sub from .75 to 1.1. I want to use the 1.1 and take out the mtx 4500 and find something that will be best in the 1.1. I don't know if I make sense saying that, but it sounds right in my head. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

it makes sense. Like i said, you could add a 12 to that enclosure, and just cut a slightly larger hole. Most 12's use somewhere close to that size sealed.

Or you could get another ten and put a port in that box. Many 10's use that airspace ported.

good luck.

I will say, that you are much better off matching a box to the sub than matching a sub to the box if that makes sense. In other words, buy the sub you want and make or buy the box to fit it, not vice-versa.

I totally understand this. The problem is, I bought my Tahoe used without a center console. I'm going to kill two birds with one stone and use this...

Thought maybe I could get another sub for it that utilizes that volume.

Anybody know of a 10" sub that is optimized in a sealed enclosure that is 1.1cu ft?
I had a MTX black gold 10'' that I had in a sealed enlosure with 10-1.2 cu ft. It sounded amazing but then again, every enclosure it/they has been in has sounded great. I'm finally putting them up for sale //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

ok a few ques.
what do you want to spend

what is your goal; spl, sq, sql

this will help alot
Well to show my ignorance, I don't even know the difference between those three goals. SQ=sound quality, SPL=mega bass, SQL=????

Budget is whatever cause I won't be doing this for another month. But the two main reasons for getting the Thunderform is to replace a console while getting the sub setup, and I'm using a Kicker KX650.4 to run my comps. I plan on bridging the other two channels to run this sub setup at 325w.
