its like night and day how loud those stupid little cab vents can be when you uncover them. I had my back seat folded down with the rear beauty cover removed and it sounded like I had a window open. I heard conflicting reports or ears poping or even issues when the airbags go off and other stupid things when the vents are sealed up, but also many people doing it without any issue. For mine I just trimmed the lower part down and boarded up over them

Its amazing how much noise comes through those. I think there is a vent in the passenger side footwell too, that one won't be getting sealed up.

I sealed up the cab vents on my s10 with no issues. Being a smoker though most of my time cruising is with the window cracked a bit so the vents are kind of pointless anyhow.

I really hate that the vents are installed from the bed side, and it doesn't appear they can come out without taking the bed off. Guess they'll be getting cut out then deadened over. About to head out for an uninterrupted day of work on it. Took the day off as long as nothing urgent comes up at work I should be set.

Yea I had read some places where they said to remove them and install them backwards to get some more room along the back wall, but when I looked at it with my truck I couldn't get them out before hitting the bed, I would cut em out and seal them up before I yank the bed just for those little suckers. I'm sure you could just under the 6 bolts and slide the bed back and inch or 2 and have the room you needed to remove them but its not that big of a deal.

Today's gonna be a good day tater. Have fun and make sure to take plenty of pics.

Progress:

Used to be a cab vent here:

Roof flashing cut to cover:

Metal matted on both sides and screwed in place:

While working on the truck a bird decided to fly over and shit on my sill plate....**** bird!

Had some leftover overkill pro so it got rammed in every orifice in the back:

Backwall all shiny with 1 to 2 layers of mat on it:

And last a layer of overkill on the backwall, if the overkill works 1/2 as good as it looks it will be awesome. Really like applying the stuff, before the foil tape on the seems it almost looked to good to cover up:

Its fukn hot and I'm drippin sweat, really wish my truck fit in the garage still. Oh well time to carpet some boards, mount some batteries, paint a box and get ready to hook it all up tomorrow and take a test listen.

The imaging kit and epicenter will probably wait for install until after the comp sunday, wanted to try the epicenter on a non rap song even if I had to do the 29.9 just for fun...haha

I was going to cover my vents on my 2005 screw. On the ford forums they say your air or heat doesnt work so good at all. Or something like it pressurize the cabin and makes your ears go crazy. And some other things. I will try and find them for you. Let me know how it works out with them sealed. would love to seal mine up. But everyone says its a no no.

If your worried about your heat/air not blowing enough because of pressure just turn on the air recirculation button that just cycles the air through the cab without venting it (the one that comes on automatically when on max a/c). I'm lookin for pressure in the cabin so they had to go.

I ran my s10 for about a year with the cab vents sealed and never noticed any problems. I think alot of people are afraid to mess with their trucks, I've done things with this truck I will regret way before regretting sealing the cab vents (like sealing the doors to where when I have the power window problems I know I will down the road it will be a PITA).

Oh shit, you have dynamix II in your avatar....I didn't think anybody else listened to them. I still have one of their old *** cd's around somewheres.

Well crap im going to seal mine tomorrow.. My back wall looks just like yours but with the vents on both sides. Wont be a problem to fix that issue. Funny you should mention power window problems. My doors are sealed with 8's in the front. Just got done today ripping my second skin off, then taking the sheet metal off that i sealed the doors with. This is the second window to do this. The cable around the motor pulley gets ate up to hell. This happens all the time on these trucks. I tried every parts store and online and couldnt find the right one. Had to spend $170 for the motor and regulator at ford. The parts guy says this is a very popular part around here.bastards. Dynamix II is still around. I have all there vinyl and there still making wicked stuff for the clubs. Been djing there songs for over 10 years. There my favorite for electro bass. Gets the crowds moving on the floor

Well I coulda went all day without reading about your window problems //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I'll tear into it and fix em once, if it happened twice I'd probably be pissed enough to sell the truck.

Yeah, I think I started listening to dynamix back in the early 90's when a caraudio mag recommended them for good bass. Just pulled out the Machine Language CD, will have to crank that up when I get this system done.

Machine language is there worst album imo. It only has 5 or 6 tracks. Get Bass Planet, The Album, or , You Hear You Fear It. Nothing thats out now beats those classics. There still making killer tracks but you can only get them on wax. I see them on live p.a. about twice a year. They dont play around. They still play there hits for the late 80's early 90's and people go nuts.

Its kind of bunk when your lookin for cd's and not tapes or vinyl //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I haven't tried their new stuff though, will have to give it a shot.

Ok, just took it for a drive and it does pressure up without the air recirculation on and it makes your ears pop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Just hit the recirculate button and its fine though. Notes to self...new trick to fuk with passengers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

with no deadening on the floor or rear doors its **** quiet though, if it wasn't for the exhuast it'd be super quiet. Pretty crazy for havin 37" mud tires on it.

Last update for the night, got the boards carpeted and screwed to the frame, gonna need some help gettin it in the truck now. Also got the stock security brain moved behind the rear quarter trim panel and it still works //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

A pic of the boarded frame in the garage, the open part on the 2nd step will stay open until after sunday, then I'll make a filler piece for it:

Ive got a quick question.... How do you take off the back seat... as in the part that your back is against? I cant figure it out.
I had issues there as well so it got unbolted and came out in one piece with the bracket. This might help you do it smarter than I did though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
