Looking for a good lower watt sub

It looks like the 2 opinions that might work are nvx vsw and Orion xtr. Any opinions about these? I’ve read good things about both tbh though a lot of the xtr reviews seem like people who might not have that much to compare it to.

Also one thing I notice about the demon is the 41.6 fs. Would it have any problems with lower frequencies?
A subs response in free air will be different to that in a box (especially if the sub is known to loosen up after time)

You mentioned the American Bass XD being out of stock. I personally would rather have the RX model which is similiar RMS but better softparts and better SQ. SSA demon is a solid choice as well

You might want to look at this sub. Fs is 26.2 and 600rms

I’d definitely like to try dayton at some point. I’m hoping to find something through ssa though since they already have my money. Plus I already got the rcas I ordered at the same time so they might take shipping out of the refund. They suggested an ampere 2.0 and it looks pretty solid. I’m iffy about the 300 rms rating though since my current sub is 400 (cvr 10) and obviously I wanted more. The description says it’s rated very conservatively if it could take 5-600 for a song or 2 it could work. I usually listen at the point where my mirror is starting to shake but I’d like to have some head room when I want to crank it. My last sub was a gothic 12 and that thing could shake my car to bits but wasn’t musical at all if that makes sense

If you want to stay with SSA at that price point, look at the Incriminator I series, SSA Demon, and Sundown E series (seem out of stock though).

I had a rated 1200 watt amp on a dc level 1 12 it’s all about proper gain setting and the fact you be listening to music not 30 second tones hopefully

Those were the 3 I was looking at. It’s pretty far over my budget but I keep leaning towards the demon for some reason. I was looking at $100 (mainly because the xd seemed to fit my needs perfectly) then you think for another 20 I can get this and like everything else it kinda snowballs .

MattinMO I got that impression. They’re having trouble getting ab and nvx probably because... China. I’m really trying to educate myself on some of these American manufacturers but it’s hard to find reviews and there’s not much comparing them to the popular brands

Definitely understand that. I honestly don’t think you’ll regret getting a Demon. I almost got 2 but got a single Icon instead. Incriminator makes great stuff too and is a top notch brand. Honestly, you can’t go wrong. I would choose the Demon over the I series though.

I like specs and description of the incriminator but it doesn’t seem like you get nearly as much as with the demon. It seems to be in a different bracket for about $20 more

I think it all depends on your setup. I could be wrong but I think the I Series will dig a little deeper/be more SPL oriented and the Demon will have better SQ (may not be noticeable though).

I think what I’m looking for is more sq than spl. There’s not much of a car audio scene in my area so I’m basically going off what I can gather from forums and YouTube videos. I want to have fairly consistent volume thoughout the frequencies the sub plays, at least hit as low as I do now and get louder but I don’t think what I consider loud is close to what other people consider loud.

It's a Volvo factory amp, so there's a custom wire harness between the head and amp.
