Should We Defund The Police

If your gonna act dumb then I'm gonna treat like your dumb old man. It's literally that simple.

Would people still be protesting as much if it was their pregnant sister, wife, mom, aunt or daughter who was robbed at gunpoint with a gun to her stomach? Call me racist if you wish, but you have no clue about my life. Now, people will talk again. Let's talk this shit out. Silence gets us nowhere.

Honestly I don’t know your life; like you don’t know mine

All cops are bad cops. When the "good" cops dont stand for what is right and they took an oath to uphold the law, they are bad cops. Sure you can weed out the worst of the bad cops, but when you have a 20 year veteran with 70 reports against him training new cops, its a systemic issue.

70 reports?

That’s no different than saying all blacks are bad people; Which is bullshit. Not all cops are bad but for some reason it seems the inner city youth is taught to hate them from a young age. Why? Who knows. Like Denzel Washington says Blacks need to start Taking responsibility for their actions, stop being absent from the homes and be positive role models for black youth. Study was done and it proves on both sides white and black that when the father is absent from the home the youth is 28% more likely to get in trouble with the law at an early age resulting in a lifetime of crime

Are you answering for me?

What I am saying is this:

If someone breaks the law, anyone, then they are to be punished accordingly.
If there is a problem with law enforcement brotherhood, snitches and code among LEO's then instead of defunding them, add greater funding for Internal Affairs. Or better yet, use other sources to police the police like the FBI.
INCREASE funding for better training.
No didn't mean appear like I was answering for you, I wanted you to answer the question about the function of the criminal justice system.

I agree, including police.

I agree that funding shouldn't all go down, but internal affairs isn't very effective. I agree 100% about the FBI and if their funding has to go up to keep up with all of the police misconduct then so be it.

The training should be longer, but also there's no reason it can't be upon the officer to pay for this as part of schooling. I believe they should have a license to be in law enforcement. We trust them with lives just like everyone who has to drive or owns a gun. When they show they can't be trusted driving or brandishing a firearm recklessly that license should be revoked. Ironically it's the police who play a large revoke both of those licenses when it's the public.

@whitedragon551
Absolutely. As a concealed carry holder, I cant just pull out my gun and shoot someone because I think Im scared. Im held to a higher standard than our police force across the country. In order for me to use my firearm, I have to be in imminent danger and have no other way to defend myself. The same should go for cops.

This will lead to many cops being killed. If they are trying to de-escalate the situation with their gun holstered when a criminals pulls out a gun, then, it will be too late and said cop would be dead. At least he would die a good cop, I guess.

If I have to be held to a higher standard then cops, why cant they be brought to the same standard as a civilian? After all, they get paid with our tax money to have infinitely more training and responsibility.

Again, all cops are bad. Until the good cops hold the bad cops accountable when they see something out of place, an abuse of power, etc. they are equally as guilty.

Saying all blacks are bad people is completely different. Did they take an oath to serve and protect?

You know, as well as I do, that if you were 3 or 4 days into a new job, that you wouldn't be calling out a 20 year veteran. Let's be real. Two of those cops had less than four shifts under their belt. Now, putting them in jail for fifty years isn't going to change anything.

I am a black male, I wear a badge and a gun for a living. Our training teaches us that once the subject is taken into custody, to either stand them up or sit them up. It is called positional asphyxiation, every time you exhale, the lungs get a little bit smaller, and it was made worse due the fact that there were a total of 4 officers on him. This is a police brutality thing. The problem is, that it seems to happen to people of color the most. This particular officer has had 18 complaints filed against him. Where is the accountability, why is he still a police officer?
Police protect their own. At all costs. Very few will stand up to another because they'll get berated, demoted, and have to put up with all sorts of other consequences. You know what should really be defunded? Police unions. You know what should be changed? Qualified immunity.

Are you a sworn officer or private security?

You are some kind of special. You have to understand what qualified immunity is first before we can answer this. As someone who understands it, absolutely. It has to go away or the rest of the changes dont mean shit. There also has to be more reform than just removing qualified immunity. They have to require cops to carry "malpractice" insurance, the same way doctors, healthcare officials, psychologists, etc. have to carry it. If they have complaints, it needs to go in a national database.

They already have to wear body cams and they turn them off and "forget" to turn them on until after they have committed a crime. Its been well documented at this point.

He didnt say I have qualified immunity. The fact is, not only was he being told by the detainee that he couldnt breath. He was also being told by the Asian cop with him that was training under Chauvin for 4 days that Chauvin wasnt doing it properly and asked him twice to get off George.

Yes. There were 4 races of cops involved.
This guy gets it. Spend enough time researching how these situations play out and seeing how little the actual recourse available to a citizen is will point you to the same conclusion. The media makes the entire thing black vs white to cause outrage and improve their ratings.

I do not understand why there isn't a big movement to either remove or revise qualified immunity. You'd think the people that are so intelligent to get jobs "telling us what's good and bad" would say SOMETHING about qualified immunity.

When the first thing that comes out of someones mouth is the race of an individual, I stop listening. It seems to be the same people who do this try to hide behind what they believe is a shield of virtue and good boy points. Everyone knows what false virtue and virtue signalling are at this point, but the supposed benefit of all those likes and people saying "yeah! that's what the celebrities tell me is good so you're good too!" really feeds egos.

I'm fairly certain he's security iirc

Most people are just ignorant. Some are the protesters are doing so just because its the thing to do. Its cool. Id bet if you ask people about qualified immunity at least half would say theyve never even heard of it.

First, there was only three races of cops involved, not four. Second, if cops are required to carry malpractice insurance, then, they will want to be paid more. And lastly, removing qualified immunity will result in a lot of full felony stops and cops killed.

I've been on many teams growing up. And, when I was the "new guy", I didn't feel like I had the standing to call out a veteran. Man, I had to te-bleach my hair. It had a hint of orange in it. I can't have that.
Where are you getting this from? I dont understand but I know it's fake. Are you taking shots at my girl or the chicks I post wtf? You're a wierd dude
