I just installed two DS18 genx 12 inch subwoofers and a DS18 candy mini monoblock amp. The subs are dual 4 ohm rated at 450 rms each I have them wired at a 1ohtm load at amp which is rated at 1000 watt rms 1 ohm
or at 450 rms at 4ohm. For two days it has been sounding good . Now it when I barley touch base knob it doesn't sound right . My question is would it hurt to wire them at the 4 ohm load and what will treretbat those Watts on the subs. I don't want to blow them.

Sorry they are dual and wired at 1 ohm
They should be okay at 500 watts a piece. First turn volume down at radio, then with the power off, disconnect the bass knob. Turn on radio and see if distortion is still present. Without the knob, the amp should return to full volume which will be controlled by the radio output.
If clean, your knob or cable will likely be the culprit.
If dirty, connect other subs if possible to test the amp. If other subs sound dirty, the amp is the issue.
If the other subs sound clean, your subs will be the issue. Test each sub individually to see if both messed up.
Also make sure you have 4awg all around. Clean bare metal ground, and snug connections. Good luck.
