most guys I seen use the 7909's dont use them for much of anything but the cd transport LOL...

Also true. But damn, they look classy. Which is most of their appeal these days, not their actual sound quality.

Dex-m88 looks sexier and in the dark (when you can see the face:laugh a c-90 looks better too..thing is the volume knob on the c-90 feels cheesey unless you use the wired remote....

I dont remember what the m88 looked like. I agree the c90 looks tits, but I always loved the classic Alpine look of the 7909. Alpine was THE brand to have when I was a kid, so I sort of grew up idolizing that look. Nothing else compares, to me.

Dex m88 I had was modded for GM dash lights. It had a pretty purplish metal face plate and i think originally had yellow buttons and screen. I had that and a 7909 (second release) and another alpine in it. Neither one of my alpines lasted for more than 13 months but the 7909 was fixxed for under $100. Not sure what it was but it made for a down payment on some amps LOL
