Hmm, I have owned an all Old School US Amps setup and loved it. The went to Orion and it was great. I would go back to US though, i regret selling all my old US Amps. I kept all the Orions though.

I give you the Alpine 7909. Still considered by many people to be the ultimate sq deck. You need proof? Ask any nationally placed SQ competitor about the 7909, chances are, he/she is using one in their comp car.

What about it was better? How did it give it better sound?

You are intitled to your opinion, but no one said anything about comparing the O/S to the New. Will a 2009 GT outperform a 1965 289ci stang..................yes, but does that mean the heritage that paved the way for that performance is junk...........not IMO. Show some respect for the companies that laid the path for our hobby to be what it is today.

Ironically, I saw my friend's '65 stang just the other day, and installed a basic system for him in it.

He's selling the dang thing too. Just needs a bit of a tune-up and maintenance, and that thing will run.

dex m88= first deck with true 4 volt low impedance outputs...they are also like many other high end older decks fixable and serviable at least compared to todays decks.

First round 7909 were 20 bit i thought and second release in 97 or 98 was 24 bit.

The really nice 7909's these days have upgraded DAC's in them, so that's a poor example. A better example would be amplifiers.

most guys I seen use the 7909's dont use them for much of anything but the cd transport LOL...

Mine would be an Alpine 7879, The Audiocontrol 1/3 octave eqs, Ran to PG M44 and M100 amps. I would like to have Focal or MB Quart comps up front. I am thinking for subs either a Vega Stroker 15 or 2 Round Solobaric 12s.
