X-Line Coated XXX Box (pics)

Yeah I don't think the polyfill looks too bad, just different. It reminds me of those villages my family used to put under the christmas tree that used the white fluffy stuff as fake snow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Cool man thanks for the reply! (sorry, I felt I was getting flammed)
And yeah I had no idea how much the bed liner weighed.. it's heavy but that's a good thing
Haha no problem, a lot of CA.com is prone to flame as soon as they see something they don't like. I try never to flame, as everyone's tastes vary and just cause I may not like something, the person who did it might love it. Who cares what I think about it personally, as long as you love it. :]

And yeah, I think I may spray my next box with liner, all I'd need is the material as my friend Alex does that for a living and owns a detail / wash / etc shop that does crap like that so he'll spray it for me free of labor charge. It is heavy, but I also consider it a good thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sorta like this

^^^ Yeah you should do something like that. Just paint the areas where the braces are and what not.

That and cleaning up the caulking on the subs a little and that would look clean as hell. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

and to the op, remove the acrylic, then very carefully take a razorblade and trim the silicone straight with the edges of the box, that will make it look even better than it does now
Edit: do the same around the subs

I don't think you could paint the fill, you'd need to get every fiber

At this point I just want to hear the subs and probaly won't do anything else untill I take the box back out of the trunk.

I appreciate all the comments and suggestions and sorry again if I took some comments the wrong way. (my bad)

Thanks again guys, I'll post how it sounds this weekend.

you could prolly dust the fill very lightly with black spraypaint, even if it turns it gray that will still be better looking than white IMO

box looks bad asz... different, coating is clean, props

you could do the same with the silicone to... cover the "window" with tape, and leave a 2" border on the outside so you can spray paint it black, then you won't be able to see the silicone at all... I'd personally take care of that before the polyfill...the polyfill has nothing to do with the construction of the box...

with the power of those subs... im surprised just silicone is enough to hold that thing on.. but if it works, it works

Man all you guys got me thinking now

Once I hear it, I may take the panel off to clean up the silicone and take the fill out. If I can't hear a difference, I'll be good to go all the way around. (if not it's back in)

I liked the way the inside of the box looked and actually didn't want to put the fill in. I've just heard a difference between the 2 and liked the packed with fill sound better than an empty box.

Again, thanks for the suggestions. I just wasn't listening before..

There is actually 13 screws mounting the panel on now. The last pics are of how it was, the first pics are of how it is now. It's been remounted twice and has had 2 full layers of silicone applied. (you can see them if you look close, a radi and a 45) The intention was to have no screws and it would have worked but the acrylic was warped and pulled up.

I think if I cut the silicone right to the edge it will look ok without adding a trim or covering the edges.

I'm going to use some black silicone if/when I reseal it on. It would at least blend in better.

We'll see thanks again

Matt

What keeps the polyfill (or pieces/threads of polyfill) out of the voice coil? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

It's batting sheet (not loose fill ) that's spray glued together and it's stapled to the inside of the box.

Good Call, I took that into consideration when putting it in.
