sub placement in box

Would it make any difference in sound if my sub and passive radiator are spaced out or if they are beside each other? I need about 0.8 cubic feet so I was thinking of just making a rectangular box that is

20" Wide X 11" Deep X 11.5" Front Height X 8" Rear Height -- with 0.75" MDF that gives me 0.83908 of airspace

This way the box would only take up one side underneath the rear seat instead of the whole thing like my old prefab box did.
