Do I need a line out converter?

I have a Hyundai ioniq 5 and will be getting an audio APBX 10AS2 powered subwoofer installed on Friday. The amp has high level inputs all ready which the car audio installer was going to use. But I was thinking of getting an Audio Control Lc2i pro. Do I need it as it will add a considerable amount to the installation charge. Will I get any malt benefit?

It depends on the tier if your OEM radio. If it has all the bells and whistles, it probably also has eq curves that protect the OEM speakers. Simple Hi Input circuits only lower the voltage of the signal but do not flatten it. If you have the funds, go for it.
The car is Hyundai ioniq 5. At high volume levels I don’t really hear a reduction in bass.

Is the subwoofer an addition to the BOSE package or the standard option?

If so, it may not roll off the bass through attenuation, but it may have a filter that actually limits the signal below 40hz at all volumes.

If that's the case, then you definitely can benefit from the AccuBASS restoration feature in the LC2i pro. When using any of the LCxx series LOCs, always get the pro as its fixed frequency subsonic filter is at 22Hz versus 33Hz for the non-pro versions.

Additinally, if you ever plan on upgrading the rest of the system, speakers, amp, etc, you should consider the LC5i, LC6i, or LC7i pro versions initially, a little more up-front cost, but then you have future upgrade options already in place.

I had the non Bose system.

The system was really good. But this morning there was a red light on amp instead of blue and no sound from the sub. Shop is closed on weekends so will have to contact them Monday. No line in needed.

I thought there were companies now making "locs" that could read the cars audio and adjust everything as needed to send clean signals to amps. Like the Kicker Key I think is one of them, the DSR1 from Rockford Fosgate might be another.
Yes the kicker keyloc. They purposely made it because a lot of these older LOCs like the JL Fix 86 won't work for newer cars that have things like heavy bass roll off, all pass filters, and volume dependent EQ.

Keyloc is easily the best bang for buck if you don't want to invest in a Arc/Helix DSP that has proper OEM integration built in.
