Why don't you use foam tape around the sub cutout to seal the sub instead of silicone around the basket.

If you were close I would help you out by cutting out some vinyl to put over the plexi to cover up the silicone. Take it to a shop that does custom vinyl, its cheap and looks better than spray paint and will last longer.

$200 to get sprayed? OUCH. It was $50 for my whole wall to get done inside and out!

might want to shop around next time. You could try getting that silicone off with some tourlene.
