Wire nuts?

didn't i see a test on here a while back showing that those wire nuts cause ridiculous resistance? i thought i did... i read it somewhere.

might be worth at least checking with a DMM

so it should really be like this right?

In the original it should like a splice, but this is just jammed into the terminal on the sub...

Thanks for the help guys

That is correct. Twist them together first, then jam the wires into the terminals on the sub. Inline splices should always be avoided. If you must do an inline splice. Split the ends of the wires into a "V". Twist each of the "V" halves of the two split wires together into one split "V", then twist the two haves together. Solder is always the best choice. If the wires are twisted togther well, then the solder will only add conductivity, not reduce it.

Wire nuts inside a sub can rattle.

I would not use wire nuts for the simple fact that they are a mechanical part waiting to fail. I am sure it is only matter of time until they work themselves loose.
How about covering the wire nuts with electrical tape? Or is it still not good in the long run?

Why go half assed on the install? Why not do it right from the start? Buy the proper crimp connectors and use solder as a backup. Then shrink tube them to make sure they stay sealed. It is not hard to do it right. Why try so hard to do it wrong? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

what type of crimp connector are you referring to? I don't want to do it wrong just getting some ideas. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It would depend on the connection, but if you simply want to splice two wires, a butt connector is the proper type. This is not doctorate level engineering here guy. This is $1.00 a pack assorted electrical connectors at Autozone stuff.

What I was trying to connect are 3 wires so the butt connector will not work that's why I ask since I never used one.
