will these batteries be okay for me?

Maybe on a low power set up, but NOT true for any kind of decent power. An alt can't keep up with the demands of music, you need batts for that...
So you're telling me a quad alt setup with 4 hairpin alts can't keep up with a 10k amp? Batteries are a bandaid. Alternators make the power that your system needs.

I know that setup is less practical than using a combination of batteries and alts, but it proves my point. I plan on keeping my single battery when I put in my m3a and adding a bank of ultra caps. If the voltage is still a problem.... Well, I live 5 minutes away from Mechman, lol.

Alts don't provide instantaneous power like a batt will, so YES you need them, even with quad alts.

You're playing a song and it's drawing 200amps, bass note changes and it's drawing 300amps a split second later. Your alt will not jump up to 300amps that fast. The batts are supplying the power, the alts are keeping them charged.

Think of a 3 second burp, alts will do little to nothing for voltage on that run assuming you have decent batt power.

Batts are only a bandaid if you don't have enough alt power. You need both to keep up with the transients of music when doing a high power set up that will play music.

Best I could come up with since I'm sick as a dog and heavily medicated right now....

It seems like I saw someone debunk the "alts can't keep up with music" myth a while ago. I'm not completely sure though.

Call an HO alt company and ask them, they will tell you that you needs batts. I've talked to Robbie at DC numerous times and learned more then I ever needed to know about how alts work LOL
