Will my sub be louder if I change HUs? (really crappy to good)

Hey,

I currently have a Nextar M930 HU running to my Kicker ZX750.1 and my 12" Type R. I'm getting an Alpine CDA-9883 or 9885 and I was wondering what kind of difference I'm going to see as far as my sub goes?

The Nextar only puts out 1.2V and the Alpine puts out more than that I think.

Will I have to reset the gain on my amp? WIll My sub be louder with a new HU?

Sound better, probably.

Be louder, potentially. Yes you will have to set your gains. Most likely the alpine with have at least a 2v, if not a 5v preout.

My new Alpine CDA-9884 only has a 2V preout while my old CDA-9827 had a 4V. I know the CDA-9885 and CDA-9886 have a 4V while the CDA-9883 is a 2V. But I'm not complaining about my CDA-9884, I love it. Slightly more complicated than my old 9827 but it looks so good and I believe I finally figured everything out though. Just remember as ultimate157 said, set your gains right. Alpine FTW!

Louder? Not really. SPL guys have recorded a few tenths of a dB change by switching headunits. That's about all you're going to get.

you won't have to turn ur gain up so far with a higher preouts
