Why The Hell Is My Battery Dead?!

ight so i have my subs put in, 2 L7's runnin off an orion 2500D, so yesterday i came home from work like every other day and I didnt drive my car at all after that, and My battery has been holding up since having my subs in, i put my deck to read the voltage coming out of my battery just to be safe, usually reads 14.4v so i was just about to go to work and when i try to start up my car..it wouldnt turn on. its never happened before, I didnt have any lights on or anything to cause my battery to drain, the only thing that had power in my car was the LED light on my bass knob. SO WTF IS UP AM I MISSING SOMETHING?!

the power and ground wire for the knob arent hooked up to my amp, the only the control wire is.

i see... well maybe you left your lights on or something on a didnt know it. if your battery is dead your not gonna know if anything was left on or not.

make sure nothing is on in the car and key is out of the ignition

take the pos terminal off the battery, hook a volt meter between the pos terminal and the pos on the bat and measure for amps, if something is trying to draw power you will see a 2-5 amp draw off of the bat, that will at least tell you if something is pulling constantly, if so then remove the amp wire and test again that'll tell u if its ur amp wiring, hope this is clear enough and it helps

n cap and no extra battery, i didnt think id need it with a 14 volt battery. i think im goin to run a big 3 this weekend. but i have to check it out when i get home from work.

yea man caps really dont do nuttin they help a lil but it depend on what u running. do ur lights dim at all when ur system was playing? charge ur battery and leave ur car on for an hr at least ur battery should charge by the alt. if not ur alt might be losing it life./

Make sure all your connections on ur batt is nice and tight....mine were loose and never really got a full charge from alt..and batt drained like 2-3 times before i learned my lesson.

x2. Double check your connections, a wire brush will be your friend. I have had starting problems before because my battery would corrode like no other. All has been good since I got my Kinetik

Ight so i figured out what the problem was with my battery. So heres what the deal is, I work fairly close to my house, about a 5-10 min drive, so on my way to work and on my way home, i only play my system for about 10 mins, so i guess in that 10 mins i work my battery and system so hard that I dont give my alt. enough to shoot back some power to my battery, which im guessing caused it to die out. I jumped my car, got it back to a normal 14.4volts and drove around and played my system, no problems expect my deck cut out twice, but after that it worked fine. So tomorrow Ill see if I fixed the problem or not, im hope'n that was it and i dont need to buy anything, yet. I will update if anything changes, thanks for the folks who tried helpin me out.

Get a DMM and then turn your highbeams on for 30 seconds to get the surface charge off the battery. Dont start your car. After 30 seconds turn the lights off and check the voltage, if its not at least 12.5V be looking for a new battery.

Also, check the water in the battery (assuming its not a dry cell like an Optima) and make sure its full. If not pour some in and hook it up to a battery charger and set it to 2amps or "Trickle Charge" on some chargers. That will give it a good charge.
