Teasing causation from cross-sectional data is challenging. Multiple factors push families into bankruptcy. Yet, the data clearly establish that illness and medical bills play an important role in a large and growing proportion of bankruptcies.
TYPING IN BIG BLUE WORDS DOES NOT MAKE YOU SOUND SMARTER!

I wonder if those people (who had insurance) where given guidance on how to select healthcare plans would they have still found themselves in similar economic circumstances?
People review compensation, 401(k), and vacation plans dilligently when accepting employment. How come they do not research their insurance policies with equal vigor?
A contribution to my point exactly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

What about the people with severe mental health issues.. like schizophrenia.. and a comorbid drug addiction diagnosis?
Should they starve to death?
There are mechanisms in place for them to receive legal drugs. I think it goes without saying that if you are legally allowed to consume a drug, you would not lose your rights to welfare for consuming it.

Why do you keep assuming I want people to starve to death? This is why you're such an *** to debate with.
Providing people with the means necessary to get by without working provides an incentive for people not to work and be of detriment to society.

In a perfect world, a bureaucrat wouldn't have to decide who eats and who doesn't. However, this isn't a perfect world, and there isn't a perfect solution. What it comes down to is that people are deciding for themselves whether they eat or not.
I dont assume it you plainly said it.

If your government determines they dont want to work, then YOU would just let them starve to death.

Trying to shift blame is flawed because you directly contribute to their starvation by refusing to provide a minimal discomfortable level of living.

A subsistenence level of living wouldn't be a detriment to society.

this country IS PITIFUL, it depends HIGHLY on you average white male for it source of income.. not only that minorties and women can get grants and loans MUCH EASIER.. **** the outragious cost in the medical field, passing any new plans will only increase taxes..

people are going bankrupt because there POOR decision makers..not because the plan is wrong..if other things in life where more affordable a new medical plan wouldn't be needed..

im tired of working for lazy *** people who sell and buy drugs with there food stamps and wellfare money.. im tired of paying increased taxes because i work my *** off to get promoted... what WE NEED is to shut these huge morgage companies insurence companies drug companies, lower the taxes on gas etc... insurence premiums are sky high, apr on loans are 10 to 12%..credit cards charge 20-30%.. the credit system is a failure, thats why we are in iraq.. stealing oil to hold the economy from a all out depression, which might i add is looking realistic...

This, YES.

They should be removed from the parents as they are unfit to properly provide for the basic needs of the child.
Who is going to pay for that?

Foster care would cost more than just providing a minimal subsistence living and be more detrimental to the child.

The problem is not the system its the actions of the people.

Here is where I'll get controversial...

I do not believe democracy can last in a society such as America's.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/escape.gif.52b661afb17bde1db0e0c7da97e75b38.gif

I wasnt talking about legal drugs.

I was talking about the mentally ill who are clearly too debilitated to work when they are sober, but also who use recreational drugs... perhaps to self medicate.

It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.
Is this improvement in the circumstances of the lower ranks of the people to be regarded as an advantage or as an inconveniency to the society? The answer seems at first sight abundantly plain. Servants, labourers, and workmen of different kinds, make up the far greater part of every great political society. But what improves the circumstances of the greater part can never be regarded as an inconveniency to the whole.

No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable. It is but equity, besides, that they who feed, clothe, and lodge the whole body of the people, should have such a share of the produce of their own labour as to be themselves tolerably well fed, clothed, and lodged.
"equality" is a term meant to describe an equal opportunity for all. NOT Equal social standing or income.

Thinking like yours is the reason this country is such a shit whole already.
