But the bowl games keep the NCAA football alive. Without the BCS system, many teams couldn't afford to compete in Division I-A.

NCAA would pwn NFL if they had a playoff system. After the Bowl games there should be a 4=5 team playoff with all of the "Major" bowl winners.

Typically, playoff systems DO NOT have the two best teams playing each other. Why do you think the average margin of victory in super bowl games is greater than the average margin of victory in BCS championships?

Yup thank the government for another backwards *** quagmire of regulations that screw up the market...

From my understanding, they did that so we wouldn't have 16 lines of electric wire running from house to house....and that it would be cheaper to grant a regulated monopoly vs. having electric companies compete (think of how costly it would be if everyone had to build infrastructure).

While it makes sense economically, it fails in practice. These boards give money to politicians that allow them to charge outragous prices (especially cable TV)

I hardly ever advocate governmental regulation of profits...but here I do. I think if a company is granted a monopoly, it should have very limited profit.

I thought about watching it for the commercials...I could care less about either team....I'd probally been interested in it more if it was a team from my home state...but that will never happen...so I left my TV on Sirius Radio...like it normally stays....

People want a fair playoff...that's why. Bowl games aren't fair in the slightest. Losing a game at the end of the season completely fucks you over, yet you can be like LSU and lose two near the beginning and middle, and still be fine.

People want more than just a one day championship. They want cinderella stories, top-tier teams knocked off by teams that barely made the playoffs, a reason to have faith that their team might win the championship even though the BCS computer might not have selected them this year....
