Since when is a shotgun a pellet gun? I guess in the literal sense seeing as they were using birdshot (which for the non-hunters out there is a shotgun shell full of smallish pellets around half the size of your average BB) it could be considered a pellet gun with extreme muzzle velocity....I read about it early this morning on Yahoo news. When I saw the news @ 10pm, I knew they were gonna hype it up by saying "Cheney shoots a man" as their attention-getter....come to find out it's with a pellet gun.
Obviously you've never been quail hunting (or any other kind of prey that requires flushing from ground cover before shooting at it). When you're focused on the game you're attempting to bag you'll notice little (if anything) else. Mr. Whittington already admitted he made a mistake by not making his presence in a potential field of fire known before the prey was flushed from cover.Accidently my ***....how can you miss the orange jackets they were wearing?!?!
what about the fact he didnt follow Texas hunting regulation? You think you or i would have just been issued a warning by the Texas fish & wildlife dept if we had been hunting without proper stamps and shot our buddy?Since when is a shotgun a pellet gun? It was a freggin accident. Period. Every investigating law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in that part of Texas has ruled it an accidental shooting...but the eager mainstream press is already calling for Cheney's resignation. *sigh* Politics makes my head hurt most times. Hunting accidents of this nature happen almost every year (if not, in fact, every year) but you don't see those incidents getting national attention. I understand that we're talking about the Vice President of the United States but he wasn't acting in a political capacity ~ he was out with a bunch of friends hunting as far as I know...just because he's "somebody" this warrants attention it wouldn't have otherwise attracted? Pffft....

a 10 gauge shot gun a pellet gun? Right. Get hit with even one pellet out of one of these and you will know whats up.....come to find out it's with a pellet gun.
Do we know for fact he wasn't properly licensed/stamped or is that conjecture by the media looking for a hook to use this incident to bury him?what about the fact he didnt follow Texas hunting regulation? Well, were it me and I had just shot someone accidentally I might be more concerned with getting the victim some medical attention ASAP than I would be about notifying the media of what had happened. What about how cheney shot his *** on saturday but didnt talk to the police until saunday? 24 hours? You think we could have pulled that off?
I hadn't thought about it but I cannot say I would write this off as an impossibility.Just a hunch but im thinking a hunting cheney might have had a few beers?
Like I mentioned earlier this type of accidental shooting happens each and every hunting season and gets no nationwide press coverage. Why should the shooter being someone of political importance make it more newsworthy? As for the other point.......it isn't everyday that the most powerful man in the free world is fooling around on his wife in the Oval Office and leaves himself open for getting caught. While I think it was incredibly ignorant at the time that Bill's indiscretions garnered as much press as they did I reckon I understand why the press latched onto it like a starving man being handed a sandwich. And as for not reporting it until after the local newspaper had been called by the owner of the ranch..that was just fcking stupid. It was going to come out...he's the vice president for Christ sakes..if it happened to you or me...no big deal...but he is the vice president. If Bill getting his knob slobbed is a big deal surly bustin a cap in some old dude is as well.
I've never hunted in this fashion so I reckon I don't have much of an opinion on it. Only hunting I do with any degree of regularity is deer and then if it gets shot it gets eaten - no exceptions. This is up to and including a wild pig that was mistakenly shot by the 11yr old son of one of our lease members! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifAnd this is one reason you shouldnt shoot tame birds (on the ground no less) at hunting 'ranches'.. I mean come on you might as well go shooting pigeons in the park //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
