Since when is a shotgun a pellet gun? I guess in the literal sense seeing as they were using birdshot (which for the non-hunters out there is a shotgun shell full of smallish pellets around half the size of your average BB) it could be considered a pellet gun with extreme muzzle velocity.... It was a freggin accident. Period. Every investigating law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in that part of Texas has ruled it an accidental shooting...but the eager mainstream press is already calling for Cheney's resignation. *sigh* Politics makes my head hurt most times. Hunting accidents of this nature happen almost every year (if not, in fact, every year) but you don't see those incidents getting national attention. I understand that we're talking about the Vice President of the United States but he wasn't acting in a political capacity ~ he was out with a bunch of friends hunting as far as I know...just because he's "somebody" this warrants attention it wouldn't have otherwise attracted? Pffft.... Obviously you've never been quail hunting (or any other kind of prey that requires flushing from ground cover before shooting at it). When you're focused on the game you're attempting to bag you'll notice little (if anything) else. Mr. Whittington already admitted he made a mistake by not making his presence in a potential field of fire known before the prey was flushed from cover.
