yeah i say let her race...she doesn't want to have it count against the kids with legs, and doesn't want to race alone...cant really blame her.

that really is a safety issue though, it would probably be pretty hard to keep a wheelchair in between the lines on the track when the chair is about as wide as the lines.

One of my friends was in a car accident when he was 4 years old. He has been in a wheelchair ever since. He did track in high school, but there was only about 14 other wheelchair track runners in Iowa. So he did have to go in his own heat for most of the season by himself. He pretty much just had to race for time. But he did end up and now owns the state 200 and 400 meter state wheelchair records.

So I can understand why this person would want to compete, but I dont believe it would be safe for her or others. Because track wheelchairs cannot turn corners very well and if she veered out of her lane at anytime, it could endanger her and others.

Kinda weird, my friend who also lives in columbia, MD also has spina bifida. He never wanted run track though. He graduated 1998 and he wasnt supposed to live past like 12or 13 or something like that. Atholton isnt that far from where I used to live. Hmmmm.

If she competed she'd just be wasting everyones time..

She needs to come to the realization that she is handicapped and can not compete against people who are not handicapped.

This sort of shit should not be tolerated.

My friend was born with Spinda Bifida apparently his parents had a choice tho he could either be in a wheel chair for the rest of his life or be deaf.. they decided to take him being deaf.. ****in sad.

But you don't see him demanding to be the lead role in a musical..

Not to mention, she's sad about racing alone, right? How in the hell is she going to feel when EVERYONE ELSE SHE IS RACING WITH blows past her and probably laps her?
