Why go Old school?

Yeah I know it just seems to me that they would do better business if they would just put what they do put out. You by a amp from the x company just to find out it does nothing what they say it will do so therefore you probably won't buy a thing else from them so they lost money and a customer they do it alot more now than then is what I'm getting at so yes I'm still comparing now to old school
Last I looked BOSS had more net income than anyone else.

Because ppl can't afford the better names so they buy more cheaper which is fine if that is what you want to do but don't expect it to last as long but then again I guess it depend on how u treat your equipment

Better insight to why old school..

- Most hand built sold one by one

- The parts used were quality due to trying to be top dog

- Alot were built here in the usa

- Design was built around in stock parts daily

Nowadays even tho amps have high efficiency it does not prove it is better.

Placing higher effiency throws actual power out the door. Parts being placed in amps are parts available on demand and not readily made previous to build.

Machines build our chips compared to man like zed who did solder and such by hand.

Older amps were capable of being abused to hell compared to new ones.

Not to forget it was rare to receive a new amp that is defective due to better QA

are you ok with companies that under rate performance?

But is there a agreement that older stuff was built to last longer not just audio everything so with that being said I would rather pay 500 for something that will last say 15 years for example than paying for some of this new stuff costing 500 and last a year because they want to use cheap parts to turn a profit
any factual data to back that up? or are you going of what youve heard? not attacking you, honest quuestion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I've been around car audio for 30 some odd years to know that company from then to now have went down hill and again not all of them but most have
im asking if you have any actual, factual data to back this up. I.e. a spreadsheet showing failure rates, etc.

the problem with claiming old school is more reliable" is a simple one. back then there was far less access to the information. no internet, etc. I promise you, back in the day, the big boys hands were kept full repairing their products.. just like they are today. and you CANNOT say that crack about "lasting 15 years" with a straight face. there is no way for any of us to see in the future to know whether that aq, sundown, dc audio, banda, or whatever amp will till be performing. like I said, theres no data.

its cool if you like old school stuff. so do I. but you're foolish if those are your reasons. its nostalgia, plain and simple.

Since you love to be a know it all smartasss why dont you show proof against his claim?

Have you heard of US Amps?

Zed built amps before zed made his own audio company?

Planet Audio Big Bang Series?

A/D/S?

Pheonix Gold?

Precision power?

Not to forget Zapco of them all??!?

Can you compare all those amps to the amps of the same level in this time??

I can bet you not as even ZED is still one of the best SQ amps, pheonix gold is still popular, US Amps are high dollar old amps.

I like the newer stuff. Class D amps are getting smaller and more efficient by the year.

The sound quality is also getting better with class D amps.

I run a newer Soundstream tarantula nano TN4.900D and I am very happy. The amp is tiny and has tons of output.

The signal is coming from an Audison Bit Ten D.

I've ran the Alpine PDX series and other various class D full range amps. Nothing but great sound.
Hmm, what is any smaller than this, and more efficient?? I'm curious ????
