Why go Old school?

PPI, Phoenix Gold, Hifonics ...names like that ...no they don't really have anything great anymore. Some brands now still have an elite series or whatever they wanna call it. But other than that it's all mass produced dookie. I myself have been out of the game so long as well, but I do know coming back in there's a LOT of shizen out there
You need to take PG off of that list. Someone please tell me a PG amp that is not up to par? They got bought out, had a few years of bottom of the line, and now have built full lines in about every category of amp that are legit. I will take my elite.1 over any Sundown, CT, DD, whatever you guys push on here. On the other note unlike sundown, CT, DD what have you they have a small footprint line, a class d big power line, and an all out SQ line.

PG is ruined by everything but the Elite. And you might want to look as some stated footprints before you categorize

You see this is why I can't stand any response of yours. There is no information in this response as to why I'm wrong. You just say I'm wrong. There is no proof that pg is ruined except the elite line. You just say it is.

It's cause it's not Digital Designs. How dare you go against the grain lol. All the DD Z amps I seen when they came out went up in smoke

Its pretty obvious if you touch them and talk to dealers. I was going to go PG for this build but I got steered away by a dealer. Once a company gets bought by AAMP.. I should not have to explain anything.

You speaking of footprints shows you also have no idea what you are talking about. And that's something you can easily look up yourself.

So true bout zed built amps get ya one of those and compare it to today's crap u will def see the difference
You're right. "today's crap" will put out more power, sound the same, have a warranty, and cost less.

I have a ton of old school amps, some very nice, high end ones at that, and I'll say, without hesitation the ONLY logical reason to run old amps is nostalgia. The people that drool over the older stuff are generally guys who've been in the hobby a good while, and remember when the amps they lust over were new, and "the kings of the hill". The younger "old school" collectors have simply been brainwashed into believing older is better. This applies to cars, electronics, etc. Look, I'm not attacking anyone's choice in amps. You wanna run old, run old. I (obviously) like old amps as well, or I wouldn't have so many hanging around. But it's completely illogical to pretend today's stuff isn't/can't be as good/better than the old. Advances in engineering, implementation, and design have really brought some great things to the market over time, while substantially lowering prices.

On a semi related front: it's not fair to compare today's "budget" amps with higher end "old school" stuff. If you compare an old pPI with say, a new audiopipe amp, of course the ppi will seem like a winner.if you want a fair comparison, you need to compare a like Msrp. Example: a old pPI pc amp could cost up to $1500 new (heck, maybe more.. Been a long time). Compare that model with a new amp of a good reputation costing around that much, and you'll find the new one has more than a few advantages.

I I really just wished company would stop over rating there crap and just put what it really is at least you know what you are getting then instead of over rating I'm not saying all company but most over rate the crap out of it I don't care how many volt u put to them you will burn that before it ever reaches what They say they put out just put what the **** thing will put out it will still sale at least u know that you are getting what you need instead of what you don't

That has nothing to do with old school or new. That's been going on as long as electronics have been out. You'll always have companies lying about output, and you'll always have decent companies being honest.

Yeah I know it just seems to me that they would do better business if they would just put what they do put out. You by a amp from the x company just to find out it does nothing what they say it will do so therefore you probably won't buy a thing else from them so they lost money and a customer they do it alot more now than then is what I'm getting at so yes I'm still comparing now to old school

But is there a agreement that older stuff was built to last longer not just audio everything so with that being said I would rather pay 500 for something that will last say 15 years for example than paying for some of this new stuff costing 500 and last a year because they want to use cheap parts to turn a profit
