Why do people put enormous bass in their cars?

That is what I was wondering. I doubt the big bass players are listening to the Eagles lol.
Youd be suprised wut some people listen to. Like phil collins will slam on a few 15s ..so will celine dion lmao. I used to have a pair of 15s and when my friends would ride with me id just randomly put on the titanic theme song and they would just be like wtf lol.

I hate these bass boxes on wheels so stupid and pointless. That is not music it is noise just to annoy people and get there attention. If anyone goes by me or pulls up beside me in one of these things i look right at them and laugh. Probably never got attention as a child so they are trying to get it now.
Anyone who pulls up next to you at a stop with it still up is an idiot, yes. As for saying it's not music...a lot of loud setups are very musical once you adjust the sub output down, theyre just having some fun (but still shouldnt have it up loud at stops) and people are a little too uptight about some loud noise that will go away within a minute or less...take it easy.

Why 15's..? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

That feeling is just unbelievable. I'm not huge on showing off, none of my friends have systems so there's not really any competition going. I just cannot stave off my addiction to that pressure and vibration in a car. Adore it. Plus, to me, nothing sounds as amazing as a really deep, warm bassline given the right speaker support. However, bass alone *****. When the full package comes together it's pure bliss.

Same reason guys put 50k in a ricer car engine, Pay 50 grand for a fast horse Or buy an expensive shotgun and shoot clay pigeons countless hours.

To compete. It's in the genes. Even little kids do the my dog can whip yours or my dad can kick your dads ass thing.

I honestly don't see the point UNLESS you are competing. What music are you guys listening to? That probably has the biggest thing to do with it.
Actually if you'll notice (for example, the 'bass track thread'), guys who love a lot of bass seek out music that has bass. It's not a matter of listening to stuff that just happens to have crazy bass lines and buying equipment for it.

For example, I listen to metal most of the time. In the gym I have a shitload of Vital Remains and All Shall Perish on my MP3 player, but I just love bass in the car. So that got me into rap and drum-and-bass, but it's not what I listen to most of the time. Just when I drive.

When I was into the big bass there was this one song by three six mafia that was just plain nasty.

Ahh "Late Night Tip"

Just an example //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif its always fun to put on something different like that for people who think songs like that cant slam no way in hell then they get blown away lol

I listen to mostly metal, but I love the clean sound from rap in my car. The highs and bass sound so f*cking clean and clear that even if the song *****, i will still listen to it on a good system.

1. To grab attention, not to annoy people, but its respect to other car audio enthusiats..Also i live in louisiana = tons of black people (no racists) and im white..so its always funny as hell when i roll up to some black guys in a big suv on 26s with no sound blaring highs and completely drown them out with bass, they just sit there like "****"(and to people who are prob gonna be like "OMG UR GONNA GET JACKED AND SHOT" ..U MAD?) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

2. I love the sound of hard pounding bass, usually once or twice a week if i dont drive alot ill just go outside and sit in my truck listening to crazy bass. Im addicted to it right now becuz i love rap.

3. Its a hobby and an obsession/addiction. Id rather this hobby than my old hobby which costed me thousands after thousands and just end up having a blown engine to fix.

I like rap and bass just makes the experience better, so why not. I enjoy it without bass but with bass its awsome. But i will admit, I had to drive 30 mins to school and after the first few days/weeks i never listened full tilt unless my friends rode with me..Id just have it about half way so i could actually hear the music,, and occasionally crank it.
You sound like a guy that would have a 95 neon, paint peeling, with a 10" sony and a 12" legacy, seats folded down, license plate screws loose to hear the rattle and doors speakers blown, laughing at the guy on his 6's...

yah still pretty popular..although i like to listen to songs that are actually good AND have good bass. But most times i cant hear the music so that just doesnt go together. I think 1 of the most wide known bass songs has got to be "Put On" just cuz it hits all the best low notes.

Lmao no, i have a new chevy colorado..I dont do big rims, no paint pealing no sonys no legacys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif BUT my door speaker did blow..but i replaced it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

The main reason for the question in the title for the majority of people is to impress people. A pair of 15s..a 18..couple 10s or 12s is enuff bass for anyone..but when you do like fuggin 4x 15s.. 8x 12s.. 2+ 18s..thats just to show off imo.

I listen to metal, and rap. I like subs that can hit low, but if they don't keep up with the double kicks it pisses me off.
i can't stand my subs turned up when i listen to metal. So far, the best cd i could find with clean drumming was All that remains "overcome".
