WHIS HAS MORE SPL ? 1 15" Cerwin Vega Stroker , Or 2 12" Alpine Type R's? MORE BASS??

How many times must we be reminded the Type R beat the SX in spkrman's testing? How many times must it be compared to other subs and either win 1) by quality, or 2) by lesser quality but the price justifying that...? Most positive Type R threads I see lately are more centered around the R 'beating' this sub or that, in some way or another. It rubs people wrong. Above is a perfect example. Someone compares this to the 'RE boner' and its met with a reply how the Type R beat the SX and is 100 bucks less etc etc. That wasn't the point of his comment, at all. Quite the opposite in fact. Im not bashing anyone here, like I said earlier everyone has a right to post what they want here (so long as it meets the forum rules), but I do understand people not appreciating the tone of alot of the Type R threads.

edit: not trying to start any trouble here (and I wont be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif), just stating what I think is the perspective of some of the 'haters'

Not trying to be offensive, but this 20 yr old and his testing is WORD around here, uh?
You obviously have never talked to mark. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

He has been playing with stereos since he was in grade school.

He builds more boxes in a week (purely for testing) than you probably will in a year, hell, probably ever.

And you will take his word over all, right:confused:

Maybe Mark can sometime get ahold of a CV 'Vega' and do some testing against the ALMIGHTY Alpine Type R.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

*The current 'V-max' took the place of the 'Vega' in 2003. Vega series was in production from 97-03.

To be honest, I think that he has proven himself on these forums a lot more than you have. Now since you are apperantly really popular at termpro, assuming mark is not and was a new user there, would you expect the users there to take your word or his in a debate?

I will take his word, because i've experienced everything he has done first hand. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Afterall, he's the one who convinced me to get the type-r. I've seen/heard basically every install he has ever done over the past 2 years.

Also, it doesn't hurt that i live 10 minutes from him. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Much more CV enthusiasts there than Alpine. After all, it is home to dB Drag and other sanctioned Sound-Off orgs that are very familiar with the legendary performance and WR held by the original Stroker.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I have heard much more about the 3 models of the CV Stroker than Alpine.

more CV than alpine entusiasts... i beg to differ... alpine has been making quality stuff for *many* years, and CV has *never* been as big as alpine. There are at least 100x as many all alpine cars as there are complete CV installs... and not exaggerating.

i currently hold 2 records with type R's... which means nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You have some things backwords here:

1)Age doesnt mean shit in weather what a person knows or not

2)Just because the old stroker set a some world records back in the day still doesnt make it a better sub.

3)who cares how much youve heard people talk about a sub? Honestly, does that make the sub loud?...

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Once again, remove vega's dick from your mouth, insert your foot.

I personally believe it is not so much of the type r's performance as to the extent of speakerman's testing which has resulted in such high marks for the type r. Think of it as the chevy 350 for an anology. They were inexpensive (compared to CV) and plentiful that much exhaustive trials, testing has been done to fully exploit much of the potential of the type r. Of course there are much more powerful engines out there, but few like the 350 in terms of aftermarket following.

I don't know if they will take any world records home with them. I also find this world record deal very iffy in that nearly every manufacturer tends to have some type of world record because there are so many competitions. Furthermore, the ease in which a sub can produce SPL is very important for a strong following. Thanks to speakermans' work, it seem much easier to achieve decent SPL (with some SQ) than those wishing to follow the CV route. Just because of the availabilty of knowledge of this forum. Not to say this is the only source that knowledge is available.

RFCV, perhaps you have equal experience in testing with the various CV platforms. You cite many records, but in the world of business, there is a saying "What have you done for me lately?" It looks as though Alpine is doing much and CV very little, although the pro-stroker is very new. We shall have to wait to see if a similar following develops.

I ,personally, am not a big alpine fan (except componets) mostly because i haven't heard any of these setups.
