I personally believe it is not so much of the type r's performance as to the extent of speakerman's testing which has resulted in such high marks for the type r. Think of it as the chevy 350 for an anology. They were inexpensive (compared to CV) and plentiful that much exhaustive trials, testing has been done to fully exploit much of the potential of the type r. Of course there are much more powerful engines out there, but few like the 350 in terms of aftermarket following.
I don't know if they will take any world records home with them. I also find this world record deal very iffy in that nearly every manufacturer tends to have some type of world record because there are so many competitions. Furthermore, the ease in which a sub can produce SPL is very important for a strong following. Thanks to speakermans' work, it seem much easier to achieve decent SPL (with some SQ) than those wishing to follow the CV route. Just because of the availabilty of knowledge of this forum. Not to say this is the only source that knowledge is available.
RFCV, perhaps you have equal experience in testing with the various CV platforms. You cite many records, but in the world of business, there is a saying "What have you done for me lately?" It looks as though Alpine is doing much and CV very little, although the pro-stroker is very new. We shall have to wait to see if a similar following develops.
I ,personally, am not a big alpine fan (except componets) mostly because i haven't heard any of these setups.
and the truth comes out!
I have no incentive to say alpine is great, but you sure have incentive to say CV is great... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

HAHA!!!bumpity bump, my type r's thump, and mag's just straight take a dump
more CV than alpine entusiasts... i beg to differ...
I was referring to the Termpro forum, which was in question. I checked in the 'subs' over there and I can count on my one hand the number of Alpine sub posts since the beginning of this year! Yes, there are more Alpine enthusiasts than CV in the general public, mainly because Alpine is VERY well known more for their excellent receivers than subs. That might be changing for them now. We will have to see. As far as subs, CV is very much more well known than Alpine, especially by competitors!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
alpine has been making quality stuff for *many* years, and CV has *never* been as big as alpine.
