Gents, I realize this box is going to limit performance, but I don't want to sacrifice usability of the truck in any way hence I'd like to continue to work with this box for now. I'm sure down the road I may change my mind but for now lets stick to this box please.
Vehicle: 2007 GMC sierra
Box: Atrend A131-10CPV
Box Picture:
Box specs:
Width 27.25
Height 6.875
Depth 11.875
Vent Width 2.5
Vent Height 2.5
Vent Depth 12
Mounting Depth 6.25
Gross Cubic Feet Per Side 1.1
Net Cubic Feet Per Side 1
HZ 39
AMP: Current Rockford Fosgate monoblock (???model) 75W @ 4ohm , 150 @ 2 , 300 @ 1
**Note I have decided I will upgrade amp as necessary for better subs.**
Current Sub installed: JL Audio 10w0 v2 -4
Reason for Upgrade: ??? bug has hit to upgrade, want more low's if at all possible (realizing alot of this will be determined by box and power as well).
So initially I was thinking just shallow mount subs. SD3-10 in particular. My concern is the claim of sealed only for best performance with that sub. based on measurements I know it fits, I know it won't have an excursion problem, it seems like the best logical choice.
But in looking at measurements I *think* that an E-10 or maybe even an SA-10 would fit...they would be really tight for mounting depth though. As a matter off fact after looking at the cutout for the magnet I don't think the SA will fit.
My main concern with a "standard" sub is excursion. I don't currently have an issue with the JL. I've seen specs of this box that claim more excursion height than I have. I have just over 1" from the mounting surface to the floor of the truck. I can possibly gain another 1/4 or so but nothing more without raising the seat which I don't intend to do.
Obviously my thought procees here has been focused around Sundown. I'm not 100% committed to that brand I've just been leaning that way due to perception of quality / price / customer service particularly when looking at the shallow mount SD series.
Given all of the above what would your suggestion be for the best sub for that particular box. I'd like to keep price $200-ish or less...I think the box will be the limiting factor as most of the more expensive subs wouldn't be on the list anyhow since they won't fit.
Thank you in advance.
