Hello, i recently upgraded my speakers in my doors front to Ground Zero GZRC 16XII.

Now im looking into buying a subwoofer to have in the back.

But the GZ speakers are not playing perfectly, my friend said it was because of my HU. Don't care about that too much since they play good enough for me in the front, but i sent him the sub i was considering buying. He hoped that i bought a new HU first but i don't know i need to do that and really don't want to either cause dad bought new in September.

What im meaning about not perfectly playing is distorsions and bass kills the sound, clipping i belive its called?

This is the stuff: HU: Kenwood KMM-BT502DAB FS: Ground Zero GZRC 16XII

Want to buy: Amp: Renegade REN 1000 S Mk3 Sub: Renegade RXV1002

So what im asking is, would you guys recommend buying a new HU first?

The first thing I installed in my system were upgraded speakers, Alpine SPR-69s, and the improvement in sound especially at higher volume levels was impressive and great! I'd think most head units put out pretty good sound signals to it's speakers, but if the speakers can't handle it well, it's all lost.

BULLS HIT!!! In installed the 4 Alpine SPR-69 6x9 speakers and the two Alpine SPR-50 5.25" speakers which I later swapped out for two PHD 5.1 5.25" speakers too! Put 6-32 RivNuts to mount them in where possible too!

Does your radio have a high pass filter in the settings?

Generally set that for 80hz or so

You could add bass blockers to keep them from distorting

Then add the sub and amp

That radio offers very little room for upgrade but with bass blockers could last a while until you want to upgrade and put a 4hhannel amp on
